Can't complain when imports up and leave (not sure about George). As a Lyon fan I posted he would be a loss but I was howled down on this forum but he's bobbed up with a match winning performance with the mighty Blues already this season.

Time to cull the amount of District teams and get fair dinkum.

So where to for the Redbacks now?

After a fantastic start to the Shield season we've managed to sack the captain, seemingly lose a coach and sink to the bottom of the table.

What needs to change?

Is District Cricket structured right, are players being groomed properly for 1st Class cricket, is the SACA structured correctly off-field and on-field?

Personally I think we need to be agressive off field and go after players like Phil Hughes (trying a build a career) rather than the Fleming, Flowers type (money grab at end of career)

From there blood in your decent young cricketers and back them in with confidence

Grade cricket needs to be cut down to ten teams at most, potentially have two divisions (premier league/state league) with a relegation/promotion system in place.

Players I would target from other states
- Phillip Neville (give him an oppurtunity to bat up the order to increase national selection chances)
-Chris Hartkey (same as Neville obviously could only get one of them)
-Nic Maddinson (offer him the chance to open)
-Sean Abbott (struggling to get a bowl in the shield for NSW)

Produce pitches where results are actually possible

Certainly recruiting has been 'interesting' in recent years and I'm sure there would be some varied opinions whether the gains and loses (sometimes initiated by the redbacks) have benefited the team.

Also, as i'm not close the District scene, what is the relationship like between, say Chuck, and the teams at District level, in terms of player management?

How does our District structure compare to other states?

We have the facilities and finances, I would image, to be in a position of strength, but somehow we manage to squander this.

And where are we at with Chuck? I'm not aware of what the 'personal situation' he is dealing with is but hope this works out for him.

Grade clubs probably dealt with the Jamie Cox/Tim Neilson position more than Darren. He could be seen out and about watching when commitments allowed.

This was the team game 1 in a winning team v QLD
MCDONALD
COSGROVE
FERGUSON
COOPER
HEAD
BOTHA
LUDEMAN
ZAMPA
SAYERS
MENNIE
PUTLAND

This is the team that drew with WA recently
SMITH
COSGROVE
FERGUSON
COOPER
HEAD
ROSS
LUDEMAN
LAWFORD

Team 1 is a far superior to team 2 [in my opinion]

I think we need another quality paceman from somewhere, without Sayers we look very very weak. More support required. Who we get I don't know. Make a play for NSW 5th or 6th picked paceman who only gets game while national players are away?

Like the idea of chasing Neville too, but doubt we would get him.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

The clear option is to raid NSW.

Sandhu
Starc
Cummins
Hazlewood
Bollinger
Abbott
Copeland

All of these would walk into our side.

Sandhu - is a first choice for NSW at full strength

Starc - established at international level, gets picked in full strength side.

Cummins - injury prone past plus he is CA's pin up boy.

Hazelwood - getting picked for Australia so why move?

Doug the rug - too old, enough said.

Abbott - maybe but would he want to move after what happened to him this season? Especially to SA....

Copeland - not as old as Doug but is in a long injury lay off plus approaching 30.

And there in lies the problem! Why would any bowler want to come to Adelaide and bowl on roads they prepare at AO and the Bay?

Georgey played one Shield game last year (Round 1 at the Bay) and struggled to take wickets like all the pace bowlers, never played again. How he is loving it up in Queensland and bowling on pitches like the Gabba and other District pitches that have a bit of life in them and makes it fair for both bowlers and batters. Surprise, surprise, he is taking lots of wickets again and having a great year.

Until they do something about making our pitches here fair for both bat and ball, all our bowlers like Ryan Harris and Georgey will move interstate!

Redbacks looking to 'reintegrate' coach Darren Berry while Johan Botha, Shaun Tait and Adam Zampa all appear to be leaving the Strikers.

SOUTH Australia Cricket Association is attempting to “reintegrate” Darren Berry as head coach while facing the loss of boom leg-spinner Adam Zampa to Stephen Fleming’s Melbourne Stars.

Wild Thing Shaun Tait has been snubbed a second time in a bid to remain a Striker — ending up at Hobart Hurricanes as the replacement for Stars-bound Ben Hilfenhaus.

Tait, who wanted to stay, took a peerless 28 wickets at 17 in 18 games over two Strikers stints. Botha was told last December he wouldn’t receive a new SACA deal and is currently negotiating a Big Bash League contract with Sydney Sixers but is yet to sign.

The Strikers would be minus their three premier bowlers and only recognisable marketing face with Tait, Botha and Zampa gone.

The Strikers endured inevitable competition to retain Zampa who impressed with nine wickets at 22 in Big Bash League 04 while his long-term first-class signature will also be valued.

The Advertiser understands the Stars are Zampa’s preferred destination. Berry will be back with the Redbacks today at Park 25 as SACA works on a way to reintegrate the head coach into its setup.

Berry will test whether he can continue given he’s been on five weeks personal leave, unusual during the height of a season in elite sport.

The bottom-placed Redbacks face Victoria from Thursday at Glenelg.

His authority has been undermined, how could he possibly continue in the role?

At the risk of being called a key board warrior, the mess the SACA has been for some years has just worsened. Now, don't get me wrong, the farce that is Big Bash and the recruiting of players associated doesn't really come into my thinking. However the manner in which a coach has had players moved on, contracts not renewed etc while he's on sensitive personal leave does, it's also pretty average.

Again the question begs, who / what needs replacing?
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!
