Watto, mally....take a bow

Postby Rik E Boy » Sat Apr 21, 2007 8:09 pm

Sometimes the selectors and malstrodamus gets things right. If you make enough predictions you are bound to jag one sooner than later after all.

However both of thse entities deserve credit I believe for sticking with Shane 'ouch' Watson who really showed something in the match against the Kiwis last night. With precious little time to bat, Watta eclipsed non other than Mr Cricket himself as he knocked up a lightning fast 65 not out. The guy has some serious talent and the selectors have done well to stick by him.

While praising the selectors, another bouquet should also go their way for sticking with Matthew Hayden who looked hopeless in Adelaide in that England game.

Selectors and mally......take a bow. =D>

regards,

Credit where it is due. Watson batted very well and finally did what he is supposed to. It's taken him more chances than anyone else would ever dream of getting but he did it. He still can't bowl and that is my major issue.

ROD yeah he still cant bowl.....
AND NO BOWLER HAS DISMISSED HIM IN THE WORLD CUP
The only times he gets dismissed these days is when he makes 50+ opening the batting.

I stayed up and watched that innings
WATTO was 18 of 18 balls, VETTORI and PATEL contained him
Enter GILLESPIE
6 COVER DRIVE
2 SQUARE DRIVE
4 SWEEP TO FINE LEG[they are going to call this shot the WATTOSWWEP]
4 ON DRIVE
6 LOFTED ON DRIVE

ENTER MCMILLAN
2 ON DRIVE
4 LOFTED ON DRIVE
1 LATE CUT [magnificent delivery]

ENTER FRANKLIN
1 LAP WATTOSWEEP
2 COVER DRIVE................50 RUNS OF 28 BALLS =D>
1 FLICK TO MIDWICKET

What an over by FRANKLIN he can tell his grandkids one day how he contained WATTO

LAST OVER
6/334[48.3] HUSSEY out in a 77 run partnership.
WATSON ON 51[29]
Fortunately they crossed
6 lofted staright drive
2 turn to square leg
6 THAT LOFTED COVER DRIVE

65 OFF 32 BALLS

Thats about 150 tournament runs off about 75 balls approximately
AND STILL NOT OUT

I wont talk about the 1/20 with his bowling [he should not be bowling]

Well the big focus will be on who will be the first bowler in International
World Cup cricket to dismiss WATTO
I think Muralichuckerathan MIGHT be the man

Watson's "paddle sweep" type shot has become a massive weapon for him.

how quickly we forget.
before the last world cup all the talk was how symonds was still getting a game, now look at him.
wattos batting & bowling ave stand up pretty good against the big gun all rounders symonds & flintoff.
hes the weakest link in the bowling attack so of course the opposition are goin to target him

One game to go and still WATSON has not been dismissed in the World cup
X SHARKY spot on hes the weakest link in the bowling....
But then again Ive never seen TAIT/BRACKEN/MCGRATH hit a 50 with the bat.......

I think Murali will prove his greatness and get WATTO out in the final

I think his bowling is still very average, it seems to lack penetration but as long as he is economical in the final he should be ok.

If Watson doesn't get dismissed in the final then does that mean he will have the same tournament average as McGrath? ;)
