Johnson definately needs a spell, if your shortening your run up to stop spraying balls you obviously have flaws that need to be worked at back at shield level.
I

think he didnt play same as wade due to aus a committments

In the first test in Brisbane id rather see Cutting playing his home Test ahead of Johnson, Siddle or Copeland.
Cummins lock him in until the end of the Summer......in 2027 :D
Perseverse with Lyon. hasn,t done much wrong. Without his batting efforts we would have been bowled out for the lowest score in Test history  Now lets never speak of that again :-$ .
Harris if fit is the other bowler who i think is at his peak and a good, reliable and consistent performer.
Wato has been a great 4th seamer over the last year and again if fit should be used in this role.

My only concern now is the apparent selection obsession of having a left armer in the attack even if hes bowling fast spray pies or has a hair piece and isnt fit enough for test cricket. I know they will stick with Johno but id love to see him and Dougy go back earn their places in the test team and eraticate some of the flaws in their games.

Yeah your probably right there about Starc. When cummings is back and firing there is no doubt that there isnt room at the moment for any of those players I mentioned. It looks like Cummings, Pattinson and Siddle seem to be the best option at the moment. Next in the order you would think would be Copeland and Cutting with perhaps some of the older guys like Harris a bit further down the list. Also further down I guess you would expect to find George, Starc etc.

Bump this thread rather than carry on in the current match one...

So we now have Cummins and Pattinson who must be in every side when they are fit. Lyon is the incumbent spinner, and it is not looking like they will change that...
So you really have one bowling spot left. Siddle has been unreal in these two Tests as the leader of the attack, not needing to bash through and take a swag of wickets, but bowling the most overs, at good pace, and building pressure...
Then there is the selectors hard on for Johnson, the undeniable abilities of Harris, although injury prone, and questions also as to whether a few guys can get back to where they were, Hilfenhaus and Bollinger spring to mind.
Copeland has to be the next best young option, with Cutting in form, Peter George, Starc, etc are a fair bit away from it at the minute...

No longer a conundrum that we are tripe, it's which bowler to play!

Siddle has to play
Been very impressed, has learnt some tricks and was our quickest bowler this series.
A bit more luck and he could have had a stack more wickets

Never a huge fan but he has definately earned his spot for the next series. Bowled very well this test.

Siddle is the first picked. His energy and his neve give up attitude is an absolute necessity with this side when you have 2 young fast bowlers and a inexperienced spinner in the side

I agree with all of you, but when MJ is back, no doubt he will get picked... Is horribly inconsistent, but the selectors love him.

Siddle had a good, not great, series against a terrible NZ team. I'm still far from convinced.

Agree, his a very likeable character who goes about his business in a very Australian way BUT imho lacks the overall talent to lead the bowling attack especially against the better batting nations.
