O'Keefe's bowling is far superior to Smith's. Smith's batting gets him the nod in the allrounder status though. O'Keefe will play test for Australia soon, captain of NSW is a great starting point

If he plays it will only be as a containing bowler because as shown he doesn't have many wicket balls in him

He does need to keep working on his bowling but he is normally a wicket taker. Probably having the captaincy thrust on him at a young age may have affected him, he didnt quite seem sure when to bowl himself in this match. He has bowled some ripper spells at "A" level and was awesome in the tour game against the poms last year. Im prepared to back him in

The last Shield match played there was in Jan 2005, also a draw...but a VERY different draw

NSW 7d/466 & 6d/218
Qld 259 & 9/170

SCH MacGill did the damage with 8 wickets in the match, 5 in the second innings

The Shield match prior to that (Nov 2000) sa v NSW was abondoned on Day 3 without a ball bowled due to the conditions of the oval as a result of rain.

The only other SS match was in Nov 1996 when Qld defeated a NSW 'Test" side by seven wickets

We aren't looking to sharp in the Shield this year. We really needed that one so it's no wins in three matches.
