Bowling-21 wk's @ 34.80 (rpo 5.3)

Nothing wrong with those figures at all. 5 an over for a bowler that chimes in with a couple overs a game is great. His batting average and strike rate are pretty good considering he comes in at a crap time either way, when we have been skittled or when he has an over to bat

The batting side I can understand and accept, but the bowling?! Surely not? Surely you dont think giving a bloke a few overs where he is not likely to pick up a wicket but is going to go for a touch over 5 p/o is great? :?

While Ferg averages just under 50? Steve Smith bowls no better than Katich, he aint what they think he is. But hell, I half enjoy him being in the side, just so I can watch him cock up....

Looks like an easy way to dissect the posters with cricket knowledge and those without, discuss Steve Smith. Nuffy....
Hi, My name is Ron 'Bluey' Dunn. Did you know I played in the 61 & 62 Tasman Premiership sides....

Have to agree with other posters.

Ferg and Rhino would be better players in the side.

DHuss can bat at seven, and a Ferg type at six as a specialist. Clarke can bowl two or three overs in the Smith mould, but better.

OR Rhino can bat at seven, and force his way into that bowling line up.

FWIW, McDonald would also be a better option right now than Steve Smith.

Ryan Harris? At 7??

Haha sorry mate but I would rather steve smith batting at 3 then rhino at 7.

When talking about odi batting, Johnson is not the same batter in the odi arena compared to the test arena!

Going at 5 an over is bloody good for a 5th/6th bowler.

I do however prefer ferg in the side and getting the part time overs out of Clarke and dhuss! Although we would miss out on the amazing fielding capabilities of smith (not many better in the world then him).

His bowling is just ordinary and he's always going to have trouble waving his bat like a mad axeman while he bats. He might take a while like Cameron White did to find out what he is actually good at.
