2015 World Cup Fixture

This is how it should go, I reckon. Firstly, Australia and New Zealand automatically qualify as hosts, along with the other top 8 ranked sides as of 30/9/2014. If by any chance either or both Australia and New Zealand aren't in the top 8, then it will be either the top 6 or 7 sides automatically qualify.

Then the next six sides compete for the last two spots during say October. The following fixture has been produced using the 1992 fixture as a base, with the 10th team added where spots were available. It assures that each match has at least two days in between, and no more than 7 in between (only one instance of that occurs):

The teams above are currently ranked 1-10 in the world rankings just as a guide for the program. 29 matches are in Australia, 22 in New Zealand. The fixture above is five days shorter than the current program, but the teams that meet in the final will have played between two and four more games during the WC.

Finally, as you can see, it's a round robin format, with the final five system used. I think this is fairer than anything put out by the ICC for the World Cup, both round robin and finals formats. There's enough games for television, every day during the round robin has a match and only one has three (to make sure no-one has too long a break heading into the finals). South Africa would have a 7 day break if they topped the ladder.

Like your thinking but hell would freeze before Adelaide gets a game involvong Australia. I would think Melbourne and Sydney will get all the Aussie matches and we will be stuck with kenya v canada or the like.
I believe that the olympic stadium and telstra dome may be used as venues, would love to attend the first ever wc game played indoors.

Have to agree with you Jimbo, they call the shots in Aus cricket. If you play at Adel Oval, you fit about 17k members and only about 20 paying at the minute. Not sure the breakdown in Sydney, but don't they hold about 45.

I think it's the ICC that sets the dates, not CA. We'll still have our usual summer of tests/ODI's in October 2014-January 2015 I believe (well, they did in 1991/92 before the 1992 WC)
