Would he have produced this effort in Adelaide? I doubt it. Would he have been at the forefront of a SACA charge to the title? I doubt it.
He didn't show leadership here, he was in a rut, it was time to go. All he's done is show to himself what can be achieved via application. He's showed Tasmania some gratitude for giving him another chance at the top level in Australia.
I say well done on your performance this season Cossie. But why couldn't he apply himself like that here?
Maybe because he got sick of being told to lose weight. There have been plenty of good fat cricketers. David Boon, Merv Hughes, Ian Botham, Arjuna Ranatunga, Mike Gatting and Shane Warne. Good luck to him.
Cricket as a sport has come a long way since these guys played, expectations are much higher, as they should be, given the money able to be earned now. If sport is your job these days, there are no excuses to be putting yourself out in the condition that Cossie still does, and until he realises that he shouldn't get a look in to any Australian side.
What a load of BS. So you are saying Warne wouldn't get a game today if he was in the same condition he was in when he debuted? Cricket is one of the few sports that a portly bloke can be as good as a super fit one. Fact is SA let one of the most talented cricketers in the country go because someone had the same attitude as you. Cossie played in a Shield winning team, while SA finished a disgraceful last.......again.
