WARNE FOR WI ???

Postby mal » Thu Feb 22, 2007 9:30 pm

A little birdie who knows about cricket has told me that Shane Warne
may well be asked to consider playing in the World Cup.

I think he is good enough
But I doubt it.

That rumour was floating around today.

Yes mal, he is easily good enough, but it won't happen. Wish it would though. Might make ODI's worth watching.

If it does happen, does it mean as a NAFC member I can sledge, the club, the coach, mudguts, the receptionist, the BBQ stall cooks, the prospect council hygenists, Punky, Wedgie, Drebin, yourself, the mini-league coordinator, the white board holder and the little old ladies that sit in front of the grandstand with impunity as is normal practise on The Roost.... :?: :?: :?:

As I said before I believe the rules for the world cup are if a players pulls out (i.e. is injured) they can only be replaced by players in the 30 man squad, of which Warne isn't named.....

Interesting thought this one regardless because I just wouldn't believe it if someone told me that the selectors weren't asking him to play in the world cup (up 'til the point that he announced his retirement that is).

That wouldn't help - Simone could be in the next room and he'd still be at it.
Just ask Paul Barry's sources. lol

like most rumours, what a load of poo

we all know Warne has retired from the on day game, and has gone on record saying he wont consider a comeback unless he is approached by the selectors

the selectors have gone on record saying, they will not consider Warne because he has retired and he would need to make himself available for selection

Warne will not do this without any guarentees from the selectors

the other issue, since retiring warne has gone on the attack against the coach

there is more chance of Hamill lining up for the saints in round 1, then warne going to the WI as a member of the australian side
