Nathan Bracken Former Australian quick Nathan Bracken has been forced into retirement due to ongoing injury problems.
Despite being eager to play on, the 33-year-old said persistent knee problems had made it impossible.
"I really have enjoyed my cricket both internationally and domestically, but unfortunately knee injuries have taken their toll." Bracken said.
"I have had a strong rehabilitation from my last operation and have also looked at altering my bowling action to reduce any further damage in my knee and which would have enabled me to continue playing, but it hasn't responded."
"My doctor (Dr. Merv Cross) has advised that I may require further surgery to stabilize my knee and to enable me to have good use of the knee in the future, but to continue playing first class cricket is now not an option that I have."
Bracken took 174 wickets at an average of just over 24 in limited overs matches in the green and gold and was at one time ranked as the best one-day bowler in the world.
But the NSW swing bowler struggled to hold onto a spot in the Test arena, making five appearances and taking 12 wickets.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.
