The house inside Adelaide Oval

Postby smithy » Wed Jan 26, 2011 10:13 pm

Commentators made mention today of a person called Jack who lives inside the house which is inside the Adelaide Oval boundaries.
I always wondered who, if anyone lived there, why was it built there and how did "Jack" end up with this house.

Can anyone shed some history on this house ?

When/why was it built.
Has it always been a family house or green keepers?
Was the grounds fencing built around the house etc ?

SMAC, HAWK...anyone ?
I reckon that building will have an interesting story and history.

I've always thought the curator lived there. Arthur Lance lived there didn't he? Not sure Les Burdett did. Another good question is does any other ground in Australia have one?

I got told it was a curators house too.
Maybe Jack was the curator before Burdett, but it still wouldn't explain how he owns the house.

Johnny Hawkins and his family live there. His son Rory plays with Prospect.
Hawkeye is an institution around the SACA's...
