Run MAXchine Captainivated

Postby mal » Thu Dec 09, 2010 3:14 pm

Last season the selectors dropped the Run Maxchine in the first O/day game
A selection blunder if ever
The run Maxchine was re selected from then on and had an enourmous season

Have the selectors made another blunder ?
They have made Max machine the Skipper for the 2010/2011 season
Making a player skipper after a best ever season is cruising towards risky business ???
Personally I thought Max was the obvious standout skipper, but I wonder I why why why wonder

RYOBI CUP 2010
40[46] good start as skipper
4[7]
1[3]
2[11]
23[39]
78* [121] 78 a 'record ' score so far !
148 runs
227 balls [slow]
29-6 ave

SS 2010
0[2]
2[25]
86[97] I thought after this dig the run Maxchine would start killing them again
29[85]
0[16]
16[48]
9[26]
142 runs
310 balls
20-2 average

IF these figures are correct, perhaps captaincy is taking its toll ? [I dont reckon it is]
Was touted as a possible AU player if was having another boom season

Last time I ran a thread on ''Klanger'' he became the run maxchine
Im hoping this thread reactivates Klingers season from now on

Hard to argue, but the alternatives were not there IMO. Manou was injury prone last year, Christian - just let him play, Ferg - just let him play, after that we are struggling for regulars in the team unfortunately.
Word was he kept when Choco broke his toe, just adding to his work load.

73 today Mal, good couple of knocks in succession...

Not exactly match winning efforts though...

What limited game time I see, I get the impression he's batting for himself...?

Does not bat for himself MP
He just anchors the innings
If you look at the SA biggest totals since Max has been here, he is often making big scores
This applies in the SS games as well

Fair sledge by D Hussey with respect to Klinger last night, Vics wanted to keep him in - takes up too many balls. Far more concerned with getting O'Brien and Borgas out when SA were 5/140 in the 30th over
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yeah heard that, not as if D Hussey can sledge about anything at Adelaide Oval after his petulant performance in the Big Bash last year. One of the biggest sooks going round in australian cricket, just behind his victorian mate that wears no. 7.

David Hussey was taking the piss out of us
Klinger and Hussey are former team-mates and that comment would have been tongue and cheek

When chasing 300+ you nearly always require at batsman to make 100 at strike rates of about 90ish + , as you still have to make the 300 + in the first place
