Apparently they can apply Hawkeye to which ever camera angle they want and as it was pointed out by one of the commentators last night, not all the down the ground cameras at each end are directly in line because they have to be side by side (unless they mounted* one camera on top of the other or had it one level down!). Given that and the fact they are recording from high up, it would be reasonable to assume there is some "guesstimation" despite how technically good the hawkeye program might be.

Absolutely. Until such time as they can prove that hawkeye is 100% accurate, it must only ever be used as a guide and a form of entertainment. We've all seen those late swinging deliveries that take a dramatic change of direction as it passes the batsman, how in hell can hawkeye judge late swing if the ball has struck a batsman on the front pad?

And we've all seen balls we know were missing leg and hawkeye has it hitting. Batsmen playing back and being hit below the roll, and Hawkeye showing it going over the top. It's a joke, and I pay no attention to it.

That's the point though. In the tennis, you know if the ball is on the line because it has landed, but in cricket, you can't be sure if the ball would hit the stumps because it hasn't got there. As for Hanson Road ..... ????

Right now I'm struggling to walk let alone get onto a cricket field. The Qld health system, a middle class income and a torn cartlidge is a winning combination! I'd still be playing today if it wasn't for my knees as my weight is now down to 95 and I'm off the grog and carp food.

Keep on rolling em out mally.

regards,

REB
