Hauritz is a joke. Only got wickets against pakis where they fixed the matches anyway. I hope he never plays for aus again. Theres plenty of better park grade bowlers than that chump going around. Good riddance.
Good luck to doherty/smith. Would love to see okeefe in hunt though

Warne, Murali & Vettori have all said Hauritz deserved to retain his spot yet these pitiful selectors know more about spin bowling than those chumps. Hauritz's Test record demands he be retained yet he gets dropped from the squad below both Doherty & Smith two guys who get smacked around in domestic cricket. Supposedly Hauritz is shattered at the way he's been treated and you can't blame him. Last summer against Pakistan he was the leading wicket taker for the series but now four Tests later (two of which were in India where Warne & Murali got smacked around) he's dumped.

Disgraceful.

Spinners - past and current - have leapt to the defence of Nathan Hauritz following his axing from Australia's Ashes squad.

Predictably Shane Warne weighed in on Twitter - offering his sympathy for a "very harsh" call on dropping Hauritz in favour of Tasmanian left armer Xavier Doherty.

New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori describes Hauritz as "very courageous", but Greg Matthews has really taken the love-in to the next level.

He told the Herald Sun:

"No one in the history of Australian cricket has done what Hauri has done."

He's referring to Hauritz's impressive home record of 38 wickets at 29.66 in nine Tests - while Doherty's average is around the 50 mark in nine seasons of state cricket.

Even so. Describing Hauritz in history-making terms strikes this Sports Desk scribe as just a little over the top. "It defies logic. It's disgraceful and it is numbing. Nathan has been burnt badly and I'm feeling for him."

Hauritz's father Terry has given us even more food for thought.

"They have been playing mind games with Nathan. This probably reflects on selectors themselves. You can't ask any more than to try like Nathan did for Australia, and he is very disappointed."

I'll take Murali's advice when it comes to Pitching not spin bowling.... (admitedly it is only his doosra that comes with the extra bit of elbow :D )

My $0.05 worth is that every member of the test 17 knew what was required this weekend runs or wickets and those that produced are in the final 13. No complaints here the selctors have gone for players in form.

Glad Hauritz has been dropped, although I'd prefer SOK to Doherty.

Sad to admit:

Hauritz
Doherty
Krejza
O'Brien
Smith
Bailey
Simpson
White

And that is, IMO, in order... :(

Oh for a George Bradley right about now... Hogging the limelight... :ympray:

Hauritz-0/7 vs Tas
Doherty-0/7 & 2/45 vs NSW
Smith-2/118 vs Eng

They can Jim and I did see it mentioned somewhere.
Problem is they'll look like idiots, which they are doing a good job of doing, if they name Doherty in the squad because he's a left armer and pick O'keefe who took 2/100+ recently.

Someone recently posted Doherty's stats, they are ordinary to say the least, which is a like for like swap if he replaces hauritz.
Why not pick O'keefe if they really want a left armer in the side, he goes alright, is young, averages 42 with the bat at 7 or 8.
The fact that Hilditch is on 100K plus a year and his performance is so poor it makes you wonder if getting a gig for cricket australia is the easiest ride in Australian employment.
Seems as if no-one has to perform to retain their hundreds of thousands salaries per year.

He's not full time either and I think his stint has been extended a couple more years recently.
Wasn't there a Test where he wasn't even bothering to watch the start of play and instead took a walk along the beach?
When they brought back G. Chappell, I was expecting him to take over, but obviously not :?
