KP is no superstar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he has a helluva long way to go for that title to be bestowed upon him.

his batting against mcgrath was reckless and deserved everything he got.

nothing wrong with his batting against WARNEY you need to attack his bowling and dance down the wicket.

for people to say he is their best batsmen is crazy, wait till VAUGHAN gets fully fit, he is by far and away there best batsmen

Vaughan is finished. He will never again be the player he once was. Shame too as he was a fine player at his best.

As for the champ KP he make exceed his 50 average as he will play
against inferior teams for a while now.
If he played about 35% of his test innings against Bangladesh instead
of Australia he would probably have an average closer to Bradman.

When having a go at KP the Tall Poppy Syndrome rears its ugly head.
Warrrrrrrrrrrrrny, Mal and KP have all been subjected to TPS

I wasn't having a go at KP at all mal. I think he is a terrific player but the label champion is too easily placed on people. KP has to continue to perform as he has been doing for many years before he can be considered a champion.

Harmison wasn't selected in the ODI squad and as a result of that decided to retire from ODI's. Not his fault he isn't here.

RR

i agree that VAUGHAN may well be finished, too many injuries, but the POMS wont be winning too many games without batsmen of his qualities

Absolutely. They need players the calibre of Vaughan coming through but it doesn't appear to be happening. I like what i saw of Alistair Cook but there doesn't appear to be much else. Bringing in a guy like Mal Loye shows that there is a distinct lack of young talent in England currently. Why wasn't Cook given an oppourtunity in the ODI's????? :? :? :?

i like the look of BELL.

i know he hasnt done a lot this tour but i think that there maybe something there.

MAL will probably say that he was impressed with BELL in the nets on the wednesday before australia day because he handled the underarm bowling of NIXON quite well!!!!!!

I agree there mt79 - Bell has done OK on this tour. His innings against Australia in the last game was not too bad, considering the Aussie attack had their backs up and were bowling well. Got out trying to lift the rate due to his partners dropping like flies around him.

I rate his tour a 7/10.

not too sure you can rate any of the POMS quite that high in this tour.

it was quite interesting being down at the nets on the wednesday before the australian game with BELL in the nets because we saw what his technique was like when he is in both good form and when he is about to get out.

BELL is a non chaser.
Lots of starts but no big scores, outclassed by the Australians
When he plays against the lesser teams he will get big scores.
Yes MT79 looked very good in the nets....when he faced NIXON.
Young enough to prove me wrong.
KP is a far superior batsman.

Had Harmison not retired from ODI cricket I'm sure he would be playing today for England and would be a chance for a World Cup spot. Just because he was dropped once, doesn't mean if he worked hard at his game he couldn't had another opportunity. Especially with all the injuries.

He retired AFTER he was left out of the squad to play the Tri series. If he worked hard he may have been considered for the World Cup but whether or not he retired from ODI's he was going to be sent home after the Test series regardless. Do you really think they would have flown him back in by now???

BELL bats number 3 and is normally in very early.

KP bats at 5 and is hidden and gets to smash the old ball that BELL has worn off for him.

You are probably right rod_rooster, I doubt they would have flown him over here unless there was further injury. Possibly a mistake by both parties - England for not picking him and Harmison for prematurely retiring (IMHO).

Will KP fly back for the finals or will he even be back for next Tuesday's elimination final against the Kiwi's?
