+1. He's a gun and I love watching him play, but let's be serious about this. Cameron White is not a test cricketer.

You can't say 'put him in the team now' and expect him be a walk up start to the side. Just cause he make a few runs and gets a few people excited, doesn't mean he should be picked in our test team. It just doesn't work like that.

IMO his technique isn't good enough for test cricket, he's too much of a hitter and he just isn't patience enough to play as a test batsman.

He bowling really is, just awful. He can't land the ball consistanly enough and when he does it hardly turns at all. I wish it was so much better than it is, even so he could be used more as a bowler in ODI cricket, but it's not.

He doesn't even bowl himself as state level, even though he could.

A bit harsh having a crack at his technique. Look at North. Defends around his pad with the face of the bat almost closed to square leg. Or Hussey who can't hit the ball off the square any more. Hmmmmm.

REB

Ah yes a very good point there REB, North does like to defend with a closed face, especially against the spiners, which in turn is often his downfall.

I just think that White doesn't have the technique to bat for longer periods of time such as in a test match.

He's a batsman that prefers to bats for shorter peroids of time, like in an ODI match, where his role is to get in as quickly as possible, make his runs as quickly as possible and put the pressure on the oppostions bowling attack.

In a test match yes, he could do that but it's much harder to do because he will be expected to bat over an extended period, where that high scoring rate of his and the ability to put pressure on the oppostions bowling attack would be much harder to maintain.

I don't care what anyone says, Smith is a long way from being our second top spinner if ever. He has only taken 29 First Class wickets. Lets wait until he has taken a bagfull in back to back Shield games before we get to excited.

Is Michael Klinger ever going to get a look in? What about giving Mitchell Marsh some game time., From what i've seen in the past 18 months.

Ponting: nearing the end
North: ? Needs to hand his spot to a young up and comer
Hussey: I used to be a massive fan, but his time has come to give away test cricket if not all internationals.

Siddle: Needs to be a backup bowler, shouldn't be in Aus 1st 11
Mitchell Johnson: Needs to find the meaning of the word "consistent"
Hauritz: Would struggle to make a 1st 11 of any other side in world cricket maybe bar West Indies or Zimbabwe, does his best though.

Hughes: Needs the same sort of patience shown to him that Hussey and North have had.
Ferguson: Should be only a matter of time before he cements a permenant spot.
Kawaja: Needs an opportunity. Not just T20 gigs
Smith: 29 shield wickets says it all, make him earn his spot. But do you risk putting him in?
Warner: Needs more international game time.

Lee: gone
Krezja: Where has he gone?
Tait: ruined by injury
Harris: Too late.
Hopes: Shafted, honestly a valued contributing member of the ODI side
Hodge: Burnt the bridge

Krezja: Where has he gone? 2nd XI for Tasmania - Doherty ahead of him
Tait: ruined by injury
