Smaccer, tell us why it's a crap post mate?

I have often said that T20 is a concept of cricket that through its randomness allows middle ranked to poor teams inflate their competitiveness against the better sides. I'm sitting here wondering if SA is a case in point.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

ADELAIDE OVAL big SCREEN
Fantastic innovation showing intermittent replays of disMissALs and other facets of play
Highlights if the sessions play on show
QUESTION
The big screen is between the scoreboard and the sightscreen
It is closest to the sightscreen
My question is does it distract the batsman when batting ?

Yes, enlighten us smac. Tell us how the SACA administration has actually been on the right track with all those seemingly poor choices that have been mentioned in this thread.

Is it on while the batsman is facing up?

How have they been getting it wrong for so long. I dont care what happens on the inside but obviously its not working and its time to try something else. Every year we are fed this positive spin and every year we fail to deliver. If these old farts wont do anything about it step aside and let someone else have a go. Judging by these forums and general talk i get the feeling there are alot of passionate SA supporters who want to see us up there competing for titles so we need these muppets to take notice

Does anyone honestly believe the guys who control things have not tried different coaching techniques and training schedules and rehab routines (and everything else they do)? Each season sees an effort to improve by all staff and players (and those that don't show that effort are removed from the system).

There are two things at play that impact on the performance of the Redbacks. Firstly we have approximately 1/10th the number of cricketers in SA as there is in NSW and not far off that when compared to VIC. Weight of numbers suggests we'll battle.

Secondly, Game Development was not done as well as possible up until about two years ago. This was partly expertise and partly finance related. For the past two years this has turned around but it will take some years for the benefits of this to be demonstrated at the top level. Until then, efforts must be made to recruit players in to top up the squad. Unfortunately top flight players don't often feel the need to change states so we pick up disgruntled second tier players instead. It may not always work as well as hoped but the current skipper is an example of how it can work. I'd like to give this years intake some time to show their worth (although Blizzard looks promising, 96 in his first dig is more than reasonable).

This is information anyone can find out if they want to but it's often easier to sink in the boot. More fun too, I understand that.

Wow tassie must really be fighting above their weight. They have about 1/10 of the players we do yet i reckon over last 10 years i would think they have finished higher than us 7 or 8 times. How do we play good T20 and reasonable FRC matches yet garbage 4 day matches? We push our star older players out too early - Boof,Dizzy,Blewy. Let our best two leave - cossie and rhino and replace them with other states 3rd 11's. Sounds like good business to me!!!

I'm with you here Jim. Case in point yesterday with them smashing us and one of our own (who has averaged 47 in SS cricket over the last three seasons) doing much of the damage. Don't forget Nathan Adcock as skipper, a handy player ruined by the burden and young players like Cullen and Bailey not living up to their potential. Then you've got our insistence on picking allrounders, an our recruitment of a lot of average players, who we seem to stick with a lot longer than our own youngsters, who they are often no more talented than.

Smac, you're obviously involved somehow and I'm sure there are a lot of hard working, good people around the SACA and I take your point on grade cricket, but you can't deny some mistakes have been made. You get Harris, Cleary and Cossie around, have Blewy, Boof and Dizzy in off field roles after finishing their careers a couple of years later each as they should have and the place would be a lit happier and probably a lot more successful.
