more possible match-fixing

Postby tigerland09 » Sat Sep 11, 2010 4:42 pm

Sri Lanka's cricket officials have denied media reports that batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan has been reported for possible involvement with illegal bookmakers.
A British newspaper reported on Friday that Dilshan's name features in a team manager's report over an alleged meeting with a bookmaker in London while the team was participating in the T20 World Cup last year.
The newspaper said the report on Dilshan was filed after team captain Kumar Sangakkara passed on suspicions that his opening batsman had been spotted with a bookie.
"Kumar Sangakkara and the team management never reported a specific player or players to the ICC anti-corruption and security unit or to Sri Lanka Cricket administration," a cricket board statement said.

'match fixing' would be a non-issue if there weren't so many dumb bastards in this world who lost their money punting.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

Any player who gets caught should be banned for life.

Agree...

The honorable game of "gentlemen" and "empire" should be one where we still think of the word "sportsmanship."

Anyone who doesn't live up to those ideals, should not be involved.

Especially idiots who bet that the last ball of a particular over bowled by a Pakistani is not going to be a no-ball.

Surely people would realise that this isn't the smartest thing to bet on, as it can so easily be fixed, as has now been shown.

i know what both of you are saying but yes stampy it can be...9 wickets down, the bowler comes in & bowls a no ball, the batsman hits the ball they set off for a run & there is a run out & then it is the last ball of the over, even if it was the first ball of the over :D :D ;)
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Only because I couldn't find a thread with a close enough title... :)

Marcus North has thrown away his wicket again, and is clearly trying to benefit the opposition team- or in a bigger picture type scenario, CA is trying to spot fix (i.e. less than say 50 runs scored when North is at the crese or something like that).

0 and ten in this Test, one wicket (albeit Sachin in the 90's), and an average dropping quicker than Hanse's plane.

What on Earth could the selectors be thinking continuing his selection?

He is not copping bad decisions like some other players, he is getting dismissed legitimately, and Bolly scored more runs (25 to 10) in the Test.
