If I buy you a pair of pants without holes in the knees, will you wear them to prezzos next year?

The holes weren't there at the start of the night.

Well at this stage I must admit I was wrong.. I expected Eastern Park to win their coveted flag in D6 and then all retire or disband and be back where they started
However seems they are eager to build on their recent success and have added some very good top end talent to their list as well as the expected return of a couple of lads who had long term injuries this year.
Could well be a smoky to go B2B.

Sean Hee obviously already been spoken of
Heard Joel Holloway from Willaston
Assume Mansell will go on, O'loughlin & Payne no idea as getting a bit older
Anyone else signing on?

Payney is like 31 tops.

Had no idea, but since heard he's going back to Brahma. Something to do with his boss plays out there. Could be miles off though, season is only 6 months away so half the league will change their minds 10 times before then

Payney has gone back to Brahma taking an assistant coaching role
Bruno is playing again and back home for good so no more 1on and 1off
Mansell has huge work commitments starting new business so won’t be playing every week
Freeman moved to Queensland but not a huge dent to the team
Diedrichsen is like a new recruit
Signings should be posted on club page this week but as stated have some good 0 pointers coming back plus a nice handful of solid top end recruits
Best spot the club has been in since before I can remember

#bleed might even tip them for an occasional win next season!

Ari Rigney is a good player if he can play each week so another good pick up for Eastern Park
Not sure it will be a long term deal with Ari's history since leaving Centrals
2025 Eastern Park
2024 Ingle Farm
2023 West Croydon
2022 Kapunda
2021 Hamley Bridge
Hearing a fair few leaving Greenacres (if true), not much from anyone else but only early. Eastern Park's to lose at the moment

If the club can have a bit of a Golden Era and go up to div 3 or 4 winning a few flags on the way it probably doesn't really matter if it's not overly sustainable past that point provided they don't send the club bankrupt doing so (which I'm sure they wouldn't)
Not every club can play div 1 and winning a few flags bouncing around in a few divisions is probably better than staying in say div 3 for 8 years without a flag or something.

The Northern suburbs mentality.

Give me long term sustainability and continuity any day.

Yeah i agree with you and if I was president of a club I would want to see sustained success and be consistent as high a division as we could be.
On the other hand though i can understand clubs having different approaches, I'm not going to criticise a club for wanting to win an elusive flag even if it is in a lower division and maybe a 1-2 year success. At the end of the day premiership opportunities are rare.
In regard to EP i think they are trying to achieve sustainable success in the best way they know how. I'm not close enough to know but from an outside perspective you can't help but feel if Anton and a couple of key players/people left tomorrow it would all fall through. That could be completely wrong, however.

They may have sustainable success, they may get themselves back into divisions they belong and stay there - I just am not a fan of the notion of being comfortable bouncing around divisions just for the sake of collecting a few flags along the way.
Smithfield are bottom of D7 - wasn't that long ago they were in D4 off the back of 3x GF's.
Brahma Lodge are mid table D7 - wasn't that long ago they were in D4 off the back of a couple flags.. lets also not forget their illustrious back to back D7 flags recently.
Para Hills - won D5 in like 2015 then failed to field a side the following year
Elizabeth are now in D7 - they won A/B grade flags only a couple years ago.
What goes up, must come down unless you've got a decent long term plan.. and history shows the way down is a hell of a lot more chaotic then the way up.

Good luck to Ari, he was very good for us this year, was great to have him back home in the Green & White, and we wish him all the best at Eastern Park with his mates (and other former Ingle Farmers

).
Works FIFO so wont be available each week, but when he is will be a good addition along with Hee, Holloway and having Milera coming off half back.

I still remember Glandore going from div 5 to div, then bankrupt and ceased to exist

Expect Gaza to be right around the mark next year, if not favourites once every one gets to see who they’ve picked up..
All the blokes that jumped ship when the club was in strife are heading back, plus a really nice chunk from Kingston heading there to, few of them 0 pointers!

I heard this the other night. Also heard the recent events hasn't deterred their willingness to spend significant dollars to get back to where they expect to be.
