Just having a browse on all the divs team sheets and have noticed that there are a lot of Sumners playing in the Ammos. Just imagine kick to kick at a family bbq back in the days. I wonder which one would grab the honours of being the no. 1.

Do you know what oval the under 13 game will be on tonight?

I'm looking forward to the subzero weather that will be on offer no doubt.

Sorry mate not sure, normally would be on the top oval I believe.

Bugger! How long do you leave it until you make the call or is the Friday night ring around still underway? Been there and its not fun. Never envy the job of the coach in this situation.

Looks like we've cobbled something together. It won't be pretty though.

Thats great news! We appreciate the work that would have been put in to getting a side together. No one likes a forfeit and pleasing to see a side work at avoiding one rather than taking an easier option.

Nate McDonnell kicked 10 out of his sides 12 in the reserves and 6 out of 9 in the A’s for Mitchell Park today. What a brilliant effort.

I remember him and his bro Luke in the late nineties dominating for Mitchell Pk, both boys also loved to scrap. How old would Nate be now?

He is an absolute champion. Etching himself into the highest of echelons of Mitchell Park lore with Leck and Jonas

He's in his late 30s.

Still going strong, Nate must have racked up a serious amount of career goals. Have to be very close if not over 1000 it feels like he’s kicked 50+ per season for a very long time.

Never been paid a dime. Could've played much higher, especially when younger, but chose loyalty. Doesn't get the credit around the traps I don't think for what has been, and continues to be, a startling amateur football career. Actually played his best season on a wing too back in the day.

The thing for me about Nat isn't the goals, but more that he's there on every fundraising day, every club event, stays back Thursdays, stays back Saturdays ...

With complete sincerity, there is no-one I respect more - not just in football, but life. I encourage everyone to shake his hand this year and tip your cap. I don't know how many more seasons he has.

As an aside, Nat and Cass (his equally devoted wife and club stalwart) read this and passed on their gratitude. Except for calling him Nate hahaha

Agreed!
In both grades!
had 1.5 umpires in b grade.
Only positive is that they were consistently shit all day!

Nat suffers from being consistently good. So he's kind of underappreciated.

Also a bit of "he's the full forward, it was his team mates that got it to him" syndrome. Bit like how they never win any individual awards.

Haha typing Nathaniel requires too much effort for my liking :D

Well I tell you now he gets full credit from me on a great career that aint finished yet. No doubt he could have played much higher, he is one of the more special talents i've seen. Saw him up close when he played against Sullies in the late 90's (and killed us every time) and loosely followed his progress from afar since during my Sunday morning ritual of result checking from around the leagues.

It's so rare to find player that will do all the above mentioned to support their club but even rarer from a gun player. Sadly we probably won't see many more like him, too many temptations out there for the modern day local footballer that very few can resist.

I might just have to take up your advice, shake his hand and buy him a beer on our return leg to Mitchell Park.... :partyman:

Old mate got Trev to sign the back of his neck after the game, funny stuff. Seems most of the people we play against in this league are pretty good blokes. The games seem to be played in the proper spirit.
