Because it affects all grades from D3 down, this is a list of who will and won't go up and down for season 2016

Promotion/Relegation for 2016

Div 1 – 2 relegated
Div 2 – 2 promoted to D1, 2 relegated to D3
Div 3 – 2 promoted to D2, 1 only relegated to D4
Div 4 – 2 promoted to D3, 1 only relegated to D5
Div 5 – 2 promoted to D4, 1 only relegated to D6
Div 6 – 2 promoted to D5, no sides relegated
Div 7 – Premier only promoted to D6

This gets D1-D5 back as 10 team comps, with Div6 a 9 team comp and Div 7 will be whatever it will be depending upon Salsibury West and North Pines being able to field 2 sides next year.

Feel free to discuss here rather than it ending up in 3 different grades threads

thanks FC..i would have thought they could get div 6 to a 10 team comp as well..what if 2 want to come up from div 7 or a new club wants to join the saafl from the sfl? or is that why its left at 9 for 2016 now?? ;)

AFAIK there have been no 2016 nominations to enter the league from clubs outside the SAAFL.

D6 and D7 could get interesting, particularly if North Pines and/or Salisbury West aren't able to fill two sides. We might be looking at a combined division with over a dozen teams.

I like it.. you could seed sides based on season previous results - play every side once and play those in the same seed grouping twice.

currently 65 clubs?

without NP & SW thats 63 clubs

minus div 1-div 5 of 50 clubs = 13 clubs to span over div 6 & 7 :?

and if div 6 has 9 clubs, then div 7 will have 4 clubs only :)

Let's say there are 15 teams to a Div, because everyone meets affiliation requirements.

You play each club once over the first 14 rounds. Then for the last four rounds:

-The bottom five play each other again
-The top ten are randomly drawn to play out the four rounds against each other.
-The finals series is a Top 8 and is modelled exactly on the current AFL system

Byes are not popular amongst the delegates.

Being in a 9 team div currently they are not ideal. I would rather 8 with extra weeks off or an early season finish.

In the same way that morrell whinges about how div 1 div 2 delegates get to vote on the future structures of div 6 div 7 when in all essence why the f##k should they hav any say , if this is the case then the saafl family need to bite the bullet and do what's right by everyone. There's 64-65 equal clubs, a compromise for everyone is unfortunately the reality right now

The proposed structure above listed by fc highlights that the top 50 clubs get luxury, and the remaining clubs, well who gives a toss

Its about time the saafl starts bringing new clubs in rather than losing clubs each and every year

Offer retard Marion an offer they cant refuse for example

North Pines probably won't get that second team up (only getting ten to training yet sitting top), so might only have 14 teams to work with.

There is a couple of teams in div 8 that should be in div 7, even if it is a c/d sides.

None of them want to come up and I don't think they'll be made to.

Ive been around long enough to know that you worry about next year, next year. Anything can happen, especially in the lower divisions. ;)
