Hell, I haven't even asked what happens here?

If Units chose to go down, does that mean both Mitchell Park and Uni stay up?

I'll leave Mitchell Park up for now and leave it as a 9 team comp until I know otherwise.

Are you forgetting TTG have already been "relegated"?

Would have though MP are a certainty to be in D6 in 2014.

Che? What are you rabbiting on about?

If they went back to 4 sides it wouldn't have been in D6 anyway..

TTG were originally in D6 in 2013 but got spanked by 40 goals in the first two rounds so they asked to be dropped to C1 (?). So it would be a bit unfair on MP if we got relegated because TTG decided they couldn't hack it.

Not a chance that a side who finished eighth be relegated (if not being sanctioned, of course).

cant see MPFC being relegated for reasons mentioned..this would be more about where CUFC will be in 2014 i would think..if they are going down as punishment does AUFC get offered the chance to stay up or does HDFC get offered a chance to move up? must have a 10 team competition..

I keep forgetting about the 9 team comp thing and just took it as Uni finishing bottom and MP finishing 2nd to bottom.

Didnt mean to alarm anyone

Wouldn't think CUFC will be punished by demotion, I imagine the league would view demotion as not a punished but a reward - allowing them to drop a grade and more than likely (assuming they retained their squad) achieve a high level of success.

As far as I know they technically lost their 10 points at the end of last season which saw them technically finish bottom and therefore relegated?

Only Dutchy could probably confirm it though...

Any chance they might instead split the points over two seasons - therfore starting well behind the 8-ball in 2014?
Just a thought..

your kidding arent ya?

the saafl would view relegating cufc to division 7 as a "reward"? for what?

An interesting suggestion to share the points over two seasons.
Ultimately, it could be more of a punishment than dropping them straight back to Div 7.

I wonder what the CUFC leadership would prefer.

Well they did pretty much get to choose their punishment from one of 3 or 4 scenarios from what I've heard, however I'm not sure the result has been made public.

Because when performing, Central United match it with the best in 6. By dropping down to 7 they are pretty well guaranteed a finals spot and possibly a premiership - therefore bringing success to the club, possibly attracting more players/sponsors and returning to div 6 the season after in a better position than they were.

Was only a thought..

Perhaps not "reward", but they may not see it as actually being a punishment to the club. Apart from the obvious disappointment of dropping down, what impact would it otherwise have? How would being relegated affect the club and make them feel like they have been punished duly?

Promotion is never assured. Plenty of clubs have dropped down in the past and thought they were unlucky, and they'll be up next year. Sometimes it doesn't happen like that.

Central United wouldn't lose a game in Div 7 if they kept the same team in 2014
