But they can blame the people who run the club for not doing enough to clean it up. We played against Smithfield about 8 years ago. They were hard at it and a good side to play. Things must have changed in the last few years. It all falls back and the people running the club???

Pretty certain it was in 2002 & 2003 under Dave Sorby.....Agree the games were physical , a bit of push and shove but no knuckle merchants back then....My recollection back then was the "crap" came from elements who attended their matches to "slag" off because its what they do. Today if that is the case that these reprobates are causing the problems along with any players who have an affinity with them, then it does become the responsibility of the Club to see they either adhere to an acceptable code of conduct or disassociate themselves by telling those involved they're not wanted at Smithfield. It's not like they haven't been told and are now crying foul after the fact. If this type of behavior is not heavily penalized and stamped out what happens next time if it someone's son or husband that ends up a corpse because an individual thinks it's okay to go around bashing people. IMO 2015 would be a good time for Smithfield to plead its case to be reinstated and participate in the competition.
