Team of the year selection

Postby Nearly Was » Tue Sep 18, 2012 9:33 am

Whoever chose the team of the year in A3 either has no idea or is very anti Kilburn. Corey Pressler A3 medal winner, state player and captain of the premiership team not even on the bench (?), Michael Howson 53 goals from a half forward flank also not in the best 21 (?). Maybe a bit of bias against by far the stand out team in A3.

So the yearly bitching about TOTY selections begin

I imagine it is not a very easy task to pick these things when the selectors only see teams other than their own club 2 times per season. Sportingpulse made life difficult with no numbers for players and to cap things off as stated by some coaches on here that they do not put accurate information on sportingpulse for best players.

This needs to be fixed if TOTY is to be an accurate representation IMO.

Just a thought do you think the div 2 toty would beat the div 3 team convincingly or seeing as many of the div 3 players listed would be just as good in div 2 or have been just as good in higher divisions previosly. any thoughts??

Fair effort from Adam Clifford (Woodville South). Named as full forward in the Div 6 TOTY this year and I reckon he was named CHB in the Div 5 TOTY last year!

Dont think you can compare at all, you say many of the D3 TOTY team have been good in previous years in higher levels.
Many of the D2 TOTY have performed at a much higher level also.

yeah i agree that each division is stronger than that below but i wonder by how much when it comes to the best 20 or so of each division? i would assume the players who have made the toty could play at a the division higher but possibly not the 15 or so around them in there club. what do you think? i.e molynuex if he played aswell as he did this season next year would he be in the running to make toty in div 2?

D3 Team of the Year

Postby Cohiba » Wed Sep 19, 2012 1:08 am

The budget has posted all the Teams of the Year. Those who had a crack at the Div 3 TOTY did pretty well. Well done to the players who made the squad. Pity that Molitor missed half the season. Would love to see a play off against the D2 TOTY if for no other reason to see the gap in class.

Molitor definitely came good towards the end of the year. I thought he was pretty soft the first time he played us but he played real well the next two times. Him and big dog Pearce was a good battle.
