Good idea.

Umpires?

I would say the opp. coach but if you've just lost a G/F highly doubt your really going to give a hoot who gets the medal for the other side.

Absolutely.

Who does the voting for the division 1 medal?

Could name each medal after a league sponsor.

I'm sure the umpires could make a suggestion to the winning coach, get the OK or another name and it's done.

I thought Umpires and as there is normally an exec member at each GF they might have some input too..

Didn't think about naming rights, sponsors would be ok, but sponsors change...you'd probably want something more static.

Would certainly give more structure to the after match presentations at the ground. Instead of the mayhem that usually happens then the winning coach can call up his players to receive their medals much like SANFL & AFL

Would be a good idea. Would it also be possible to organise some neutral people to be at each GF to vote? Could be 3 coaches from that div are asked to attend and vote on the BOG?

Love the idea and it needs to happen.

The umps would be the logical choice for selecting the BOG medalist.

Brilliant idea. When i first started playing and SAAFL, and consequently a few GF's i was surprised it didn't happen.guys
Adds more theater to the day and for one bloke, it adds something a bit more special to look back on as we all get old and grey.

Get the umpires do a silent and independent 3,2,1 vote along with an attending executive member.
Most votes gets it.

It's an imperfect system as coaches and supporters see things differently but the best we could hope for.
I think umpires would pay more attention to it than they would a normal 3,2,1 card knowing it's a grandfinal and a medal rides on it.

keep the Exec members out of it as that would mean we would have to watch the game instead of being entertained inside the clubrooms ;)

I'd say both coaches and both umpires do a 3,2,1 thing each.

I can see positives and negatives with the coaches doing it. I would probably leave them out of it.

IMO three opposing coaches should do it from that division IMO and if not possible the umpires do it.

oposing coaches from that div would probs be better, cause lets face it, if I was a GF coach either way that would be the last thing I would want to do, Id either be celebrating a win with the boys or Id be fuming after the loss and wouldnt want to talk to anyone.
