Brighton to join SAAFL Div 3 2013

Brighton have meeting next thursday for there members to vote on joining the SAAFL in Div 3 in 2013 or stay in the SFL. As this may effect your club, it would be interesting to see who has been told or if you got to vote on this. They want to field A's, B's, C's and D's as well as there junior teams in the Metro south/west comp. What are peoples thoughts?

Unless they are merging with some one in Div 3 or a club is folding I would be extremely disappointed if SAAFL let this competition hopping club start that high.Start in Div 6 and battle like the rest of us to get up the grades. They were in Div 1/2 and bailed so tough luck is what I think

agree with tiger, but put them in div 7. you jump ship, you do the hard yards. if my team made the grand final this year and wasnt promoted because of brighton coming in at div 3, all hell would break loose

Unfair on teams in D6 to put a D3 standard team in there, like when BOS were put in D7.

I agree to a point but on the other hand, why potentially hand them 4 premierships on the way back up?

It might not affect every grade as badly as everyone thinks, especially if they slipped into the grade of a club whose registration wasn't accepted for 2013?

Just sayin'....

Also, putting them in div 7 will give them even more of an advantage, they won't be doing the hard yards at all.

Look at it this way, they won't need to recruit as the stocks they have will more than sufficient to easily win premierships each year, so by the time 3 seasons tick over and they've climbed 3 grades, all their players will be zero points which will give them more recruiting power by the time they reach div 4 or 3.

The above is based on all their players being attributed a points value upon entry to the SAAFL of course...

Just play with 11 teams in div 3 for one year. Next year 3 teams get relegated from div 3 down.

Setting a dangerous precedent though. Next you could have Marion, Morphetville Pk, Edwardstown, Flagstaff Hill and whoever lining up. Would they be allowed the same priveledge???????

You couldn't put a side with Brightons strength in div 7. Trev Rigney would kick 200 goals for starters and as FC said there would be 4 undefeated seasons before anyone get within 5 goals of them.
Worst case scenario for 2013 all leagues from div 3 to div 6 for 1 year only the bottom 3 are relegated and the top 2 go up.
If Brighton jump ship it will set a standard and you watch others will follow. If Brighton come it will spell the beginning of the end for the SFL.

Since when have you listened or cared what others think? Was it part of your return to these forums that you play by the rules? You've changed man! ;)

If its the end of the sfl, just import every team into a new div called 'division 3.5' haha

Not quite true tho FC cos a lot of players would walk/ stay in SFL,or be poached so they may be strong in say div 6/7 but need to be made pay for jumping when things got too hard for them a few years ago imo

Their B grade would still smack div 6/7 sides. Their depth is ridiculous.
