Ok just food for thought.
The new sporting pulse is brilliant and the convienience is terrific
An hour after the game all or most results are available from anywhere in the world
But in recent observations I seeing that this convenience could be hurting each and every football club because numbers are dwindling at presentations
The convienience allows alayer to see who got best player before the coach announces it at preso's and the anticipation is lost. Players can view if theyre up for an award at home and decide not to go if no award for them
This as a result hurts the club as revenue is lost with up to 20 players not showing up
Dunno if its possible but imo itd be more financially beneficial for every club if results were not revealed until about 7:30...

Attendances could be down due to the volume of triple headers. Makes for a long day for players, coaches, volunteers and supporters especially when playing away. I think scores on the internet would only impact a small minority of selfish players who might see the results on the net before and attend or not attend the club based on that.

agreed, if blokes are turned away cause they dont get an award then clearly they play footy for themselves and not the club. very poor attitude... also how many clubs put the real best players on the net??? just a thoughth... at plympton we make it compulsary for presso's and i would imagine alot of clubs would have the same rule. obviously if you have a good excuse we understand. also club shirts are compulsary too

I rarely give awards to the best players on SP. Always mix it up and give awards for improvement, special roles on a given day and encouragement for ones I want to develop further. It gets them to presos because they never know who gets what. I call them as awards and not best players. Just me. We do the same in the reserves. If players are not at presos they don't get acknowleged.

Im one person who looks at the best players on SP before preso, like to compare who I thought was best and who was actually selected while it's fresh in my mind.
Doesn't impact on whether or not I go to preso though, and anyone who doesn't go because of it is just a sooky lala!

I don't do the best players for the net. Not fussed who gets there name in the paper. If you want to know who got best come to pressos. Even then if you are not there you don't get the award. Sometimes I like mix to it up to recognize different things as yank man has said.

You are kidding I hope. Would not be many coaches who pick best players by 5.30pm. Most coaches are harassed by the team manager for scores and best players etc, etc and the coach says "you put in your best players and we will sort ours out later" - the best players read out in the club that night, are the real ones and the ones on the website or Sunday Mail in more cases than not, would not even closely reflect the thoughts of the coaches. 80% of coaches rightly or wrongly also do not put their best players in the Sunday Mail, for obvious reasons. Economic times, triple headers, family life and a whole lot of other reasons, but IMO way of the mark with that thought. Anyway the Sunday Mail demand that 5.30pm time for printing.

First of all id hope every player is striving to make best players, to show up and be the best he can be. In this id hope hes so determined to achieve this, that after the game he's so excited to know, he refuses to wait and checks on SP. Having the sporting pulse satisfies his anxiousness to know, and the question of did I, did I, is revealed. When I was a player last year I followed this convienience.
Now I dunno how many of u are old fuddy duddys and who are a little bit behind the times but most people hav smart phones these days. In the time it takes for u to read this a player can pull his ipod out, go to his sporting pulse bookmark and immediately see if his name ranks as a best player on this day. He can do this sitting at the traffic lights waiting in his car. NO COMPUTER NEEDED
So the guy gets home from footy, lays on his couch at about 5:30 checks his phone, sees that nah he didnt make best players, so **** it... I cant be bothered going to presos - and lays on the couch for next 3 hours watchin footy
So now because sporting pulse has already filled in the winner of the great mysterious prize, presentations are just secondary announcement of the news which us young ones already found out an hour ago.
And here comes the most relevent consequence... With a lack of numbers ur club is unable to maximise its intake, and the expected turnover that keeps your football club alive is dented

Trust me - I had a long day down at Pt Districts on Saturday but still made it back for our presentations

Most people on this forum are loyal dedicated football club people. It goes without saying that each of us will be there.
Hats off to all leading the way

I know one Club President asked for the results to be delayed until 7pm for the exact reason you are raising.
I'm with Yardy Lard on this one that you should tell the players that they may not be the same. A lot of coaches pick them later, or when they get back to the club
Also, some clubs award drink cards for that night only. Gives you the $hits when you find out you've missed out on a $50 drink voucher

Marbles. You just were told what coaches do and the reasons. No player is going to look at a website or smart phone to see if they make the best players. 99.9% of players of course are trying to make the best players because that means their team wins. Players and coaches and everyone who plays ONLY plays to win. Don't know any players who actually worry about making the best players over and above winning. You have serious problems for thinking like that actually. Can not think of a single player who would worry about making the best player list and seeing their names on a website over winning.

Well I challenge all team managers to put the results before 6 but not the best players until after the preso's
then see if ur club starts to experience bigger crowds, is the 2 hours delay worth the extra revenue for ur football club?

You clearly are not a rocket scientist Marbles. Team managers have to get the scores in by 5.30pm, or they will get a fined. The clubs would be happy with losing $100 for your challenge. Tell that to the committee at Henley.
I am sure the Sunday Mail would be really worried by the team managers or the SAAFL and not having their scores. I would be a case of we are printing the papers and without the SAAFL scores. Yes I can see Mr Murdoch and News Ltd holding up the presses for the SAAFL scores. Like hell. I am sure they will hold up the paper being printed to have an extra 20 people rock up to Henley or any of the clubs. Yes dillusional if you actually believe that.
