I've actually put this up for a purpose - so therefore any feedback needs to be constructive please.

In other words FOURTH ESTATE, this isn't another thread to add to your ever growing whinge fest.

I'm against it as I think it halts clubs that do the right thing and make their club more attractive than others.
If club's have proactive committee members that generate a lot of sponsorship to put themselves in a sound financial position they should be able use the money to attract better players and move up the divisions.

Its very hard for the league to police, but if the circumstance that kilburn are going through is legitimate, then i think its a bit rough for points to prohibit mates playing with mates if they werent juniors of the club etc etc.....

For this reason alone i would vote against it.

Just to remind you, as we are affiliated with the CFL, we have a choice of either the APPS or the salary cap.
I know what the next comment will be, so, if we aren't affiliated with the CFL, and the clubs decide to just have free market and neither the APPS or salary cap, then it will be a race to the sea.
Some clubs will sky rocket to Div 1 on the back of a $100k-$250K player wage bill - most will either go broke or will get trodden on and just go down the grades

Im for it and am not sure what my club's commitee thinks. I think it will be easier to control rather than policing a salary cap.

Many questions yet to be answered due to the infancy of the policy.

Is it inflating player payments? Bigger money being offered to secure one or two impact players that will fit under the points cap.

Will good Reserves players from higher grade clubs be pillaged because of their zero-point worth? There are already examples of average players getting good coin.

I'm for the points system in theory, however not in it's current form. Points allocation needs to reflect the fact that we're one of the biggest leagues in Australia- and thus needs to be higher, not only to allow those clubs in higher divisions to maintain squads but also let lower grade clubs build better squads to allow them to move up the grades.

Don't think it is right that a bunch of mates might not be able to play football together because of a points issue.

From our club's point of view I am for it. Promoting juniors into the A grade has become a bigger focus for us, as has targeting former HV juniors as recruits. Now you could argue we could do that anyway without the APPS in place and we were building towards that before the points system, but it now makes it even more of a focus.

They way it stands at the moment, we could bring in 4 or 5 former juniors recruits worth 0 points and any other club would cough up at least 10 for the same 4 or 5. I do see how clubs without juniors could find it tough having to always rely on recruits to stay competitive, but that's not my concern

A lot more thought needs to go into recruiting now and money can't do all the talking. It will no doubt help keep clubs afloat a lot longer and help them spend $ in other areas to improve the club, rather than just match payments.

FWIW - APPS only stops mates playing with mates in the A grade if they're worth points...

I'm for it but dont like the fact that a club like SMOSH/WL double dips with the free juniors/old scholars - whereas other clubs only have one pool of players to get their 0 pointers from.

Im all for it, it doesnt effect a club like mine. We have an emphasis on Junior development and we are fortunate to have some 20 odd Junior sides. It depends on what your clubs stands for and how hard they really want to work. Some are fortunate with $$ and can just recruit players easily with over inflated $$ and false promises, some have links with SANFL clubs which tell players they must play at a certain SAAFL club (taking them away from their home club), some work hard on attracting juniors and keeping them happy while developing them into future senior footballers.

We play with 0 points every week and have beaten 3 sides this season that have played with 13 or 14 points....

the old 'play with mates' thing is utter BS. The odd occassion yes, but paaallllllease....... the envelope always needs to be full and the 'mates' thing is only a leg into recruiting the player!

No only applies to the clubs A grade team and the comp they play in

It only applies to the Clubs A grade side, so Mitchell Park must fit into the APPS, MFC dont.

Could that be considered unfair in itself?

ALthough clubs like Henley are C grade sides in div 7, they play free of points, yet Mitchell Park and North Pines and Smithfield are still limited..

Fair enough for div 8, as it's solely a C grade comp.

Yes i think that is unfair when you explain it like that. These are the little things that need to be nutted out i believe.

Some clubs with a heap of junior teams get on there high horse too easy

They are playing C Grade Football not sure they would be playing with over 15 points

I think we could move on from here as A Grade players from the year before are not going to a new Club to play C Grade football
