Hi all,
For those who don’t already know, there is a Charity Footy match being played at Flinders Park FC Friday night in support of Michael Boere.
Michael, a Flinders Park Football Club & Flinders Pk Cricket Club Player, and a St Michaels College student (class of 05), seriously injured his back in a kick around with some friends on AFL grand final day last year resulting in spinal damage, and he has been in a wheelchair since. After being told he would never walk again, he sought a second opinion and challenged himself to get back on his feet again. He recently walked twenty metres – the most he has done since his accident.
In order to further his progress, he is hoping to attend an advanced rehabilitation program in Queensland. Unfortunately the program is quite costly (upwards of $20,000) and he will need to cover his living expenses whilst there in addition to this. As a result of this there is a charity footy match being played between Flinders Park FC and a group of St. Michael's College old scholars currently playing at SMOSH West Lakes, most of which are Michael’s mates from school.
The game is at Flinders Park FC (Hartley rd, flinders park) this Friday the 24th of September Starting at 7pm. Everyone is encouraged to come along, as all the proceeds from donations, bar taking, food sold, raffles etc. All go directly to helping Mick get back on his feet. Any donations, no matter how big or small, or greatly appreciated.
Hope to see you all on Friday night.
Cheers
