Financial Issues in SAAFL clubs

Postby Clever Dick » Tue Aug 10, 2010 5:20 pm

Hearing some rumblings that several clubs are really feeling the pinch financially and have creditors knocking on their doors.
Also heard a Northern club had a president quit last weekend as it is getting too hard to pay the bills..

Think I know which club "Clever Dick". Could the fall from grace be a heavy one like several years ago? Only time will tell.

High time the SAAFL Exe gave us a break on some of the costs. Costs should be going down. We are still paying the same fees but now we are all doing the work at club level that the office used to do. Does make you wonder what the end result will be.

Be interesting to see whether the people who wanted clubs with only one side, or struggling to fill that side, to be moved on will have sympathy in regards to clubs struggling financially...

There is a difference between a club which is struggling financially but can survive and a club that has no hope and taking up valuable resourses of the league and council.

There is a time when you have to bite the bullet and admit defeat. It is not nice but sometimes things need to be able to die a natural death if they do not grow as they probably should not have existed in the first place.

Was a bit of a running joke at Brahma Lodge last night after this thread started yesterday and our lights decided to go out during our warmup....we wondered if someone didnt pay the bills.

Why not mention the clubs you have heard these rumblings about and give them a chance to confirm or deny the rumours so we can move on?

Has your president quit????? If he hasn't you shouldn't be worried about it.

Reading this you appear to have made two statements...one that some clubs are feeling the pinch and have creditors knocking on the door and another that a clubs president has quit because of financial troubles.

Why not just tell us which president quit and which other clubs your have heard these rumours about? Or would this remove that feeling of power that comes from starting a thread with some random half rumours in it?

Gees, we'd lose 90% of postings if you couldn't post rumours
