The new Sunday Mail full page idea put forward at the last delegates meeting and discussed at length and which was given a fairly healthy "thumbs up" by a good majority of the delegates, got hit on the head at last nights Exec meeting I believe on the basis that " a motion to pursue the idea was never put nor voted on at the meeting" so the idea was canned.
It is my understanding that both Mark Shadiac & Geoff Heard were given the green light to pursue the project, subject to getting a sponsor to pay the $25K that would have been left to pay after the media/Grass Roots money was put into the fund.
Progress has again been halted it appears, I reckon the Sunday Mail would have a lot bigger subscription than Simply Footy or any other TV show for the amateurs that's around so I wonder why?
Who watches Simply Footy at 4.30 on a Saturday arvo anyway?
Any club person would be at their own game surely not sitting home watching TV so what's achieved by spending money on this?
I have heard about this issue too, if clubs were willing to partake in the Sunday Mail idea then bloody go with it. I for one will be watching my team play on a Sat arvo, then into the bar. Not once will i see the Simply Footy show, nor nearly everyone else who follows thier grass roots team. A Sunday Mail spread would certainly be the better option, more people would read that. I don't have a clue what goes on at board level or delegates level withuin the League, but the word 'dictatorship' is starting to really ring true by the sound of it.
