Football jumper swapping during matches

this needs to be brought to the highest level of authority...

last saturday i played in a game where on more than one occasion a player who was coming off the ground took his jumper off, made his way into the changerooms, then whilst in there miraculously morphed into a player 2ft shorter and with different coloured hair.

The only difference on the jumper was a piece of strapping placed on the back to turn it into a 4 figure number, which subsequently lasted around 3 minutes before it fell off.

There are a number of issues with this including interchange steward issues, and umpiring reporting issues.

When i quizzed the offending bench re this i was given the explaination that it was not AFL and we didnt need to worry about that rule... WHAT OTHER RULES SHOULD WE DECIDE TO PLAY WITHOUT ON A GAME BY GAME BASIS!!!!!

This club in question fields a number of teams during the year, would be getting plenty of subs from all its players, and doesnt have the overheads of clubrooms to pay for, so why the hell can they not afford full sets of jumpers...

This is a disgrace, and needs to be looked at straight away otherwise there is no point in other clubs doing the right thing...

How ******* hard is it!

I would be suggesting you pass this info onto the SAAFL for some investigation. The only way to solve it, albeit probably only temporary. but at least others will be put on notice about it.

Caught them out at it last year, playing with only 20, then just before half time 3 players return (one covered in mud) straight down into their change rooms followed by the 2 interchange players and low and behold the 2 interchange players have suddenly grown 90cm and changed appearance, had to send runner to captain to talk to umpire, who overruled Uni and allowed 1 change only, they were nice and dirty about being caught CHEATING!

Well here's your chance to get things under way to make it stop. Do it now, don't worry about putting it just on here, the SAAFL is the only body that can do anything about stopping it. Just make sure you have all of the facts correct.

I'm not sure if i'll remember the exact number on the jumper, it was 3 digits to start with!!

Its like being told a telephone number while playing a football match and then being expected to remember it afterwards.

Exactly, you can't wait til someone gets reported and there was 3 different players wearing number 652 at different times during the game.

Just be very careful taking the said club to the tribunal. I no from past experiences, it can result in a very lengthy process, with a result to shock you!

How exactly do you mean "a result to shock you" Mr Carey?

Uni not the only club to do it. Another club that plays out of the Parklands was caught out doing the same last year.

The entire exercise of jumper swapping must be stamped out, no matter the club

Surely there is no need to do it now, with the extended playing lists available to C & D grades.

Only applicable to teams playing in C & D comps, if in div 6 or 7 only allowed standard 21 player list.
