Pretty sure the payments are spread over a couple of years. When the player plays their first game, 10th game and when they resign with the club you receive money again.

Where else did he play junior footy? Maybe the cash is split amongst all the clubs.

PNU never received a cent for Joel Patfull.. which was a bit of a sore point.... I thought it was supposed to be around $10k though.... and then more as the milestone chalk up..

He had a bit of time previously at Eastern Park and apparently Central United, they didn't get anything either, I'm pretty sure we got around $5000 for Donald Dickie.

Not sure if this is still correct but found it on the web.
On being drafted the SANFL Club receives $25,000 of which $5,000 goes back to the Affiliated League/Association. This is normally brokenup in the following manner – a minimum of 40% to the Club, 30% to the League, eg NAFA or SGL, and 30% to the Zone, eg Central or Northern.
On playing his tenth AFL game the SANFL Club receives $15,000 ofwhich $3,000 goes back to the Affiliated League/Association and is broken up as above.
On his second year on an AFL List, and after playing 10 AFL games, the SANFL Club receives $10,000 of which $2,000 goes back to theAffiliated League/Association and is broken up as above.
The amount forthcoming from the AFL varies from year to year and is at the discretion of the AFL/SANFL.

When players become AFL listed players they are asked to nominate 1 club they come from at grass roots level. Then the money that gets put back into grassroots footy goes straight back to that club.

Did he play anywhere else in his junior career, start or finish elsewhere?
I'm not sure if it's the junior club or the player that nominates their local club.
Our ex president seems to remember receiving a couple of grand when Pearce was drafted but nothing since, he played 6 years at Fitzroy & his last 2 at Edwardstown.
Last payments I heard was
Approved disbursements for 2008 and 2009
1. SANFL Clubs
1. AFL Drafting $25,000
2. 10th AFL Game $10,000
3. 2nd Year listing $10,000
Total $45,000
Interstate rookie payments unchanged $5,000 per year for 2 years.
This increased payment structure rewards the clubs for draftees that play more than 10 games and are obviously highly qualified players.
2. Affiliated Zone/League/Club
The amount being paid to the player’s Affiliated League will be increased from 20% to 25% for players drafted in November 2007 onwards (subject to player qualifying as a bona fide Affiliated League player)
This equates to the following breakdown;
Zone Club League
30% 40% 30%

I was under the impression that the player had to at least 1 senior game for his home club to qualify for benefits. In our case Ryan Griffen was played in the A Grade when he had a week off from South for that exact purpose.

i am under the impression as luvs footy,
i was told if you were drafted straight from ressies and hadnt played a league game, for example the magpies wouldnt be entitled to the money, that is rumoured to be why eagles and westies play players in the league side when probably not up to it but are half a chance of being drafted
