NM you've got no idea about PDFC. Disgracefully sacked Rick....what a joke, he's no good so why keep him. Didnt attract any players, training sessions crap, no set ups etc etc... They are quite happy with the coach they have now, cant wait till next year. Cause from what i have seen of Portland they wont get close. As for the text msg why not ask some of the Portland coaching staff who theyve been messaging.

Lets wait till next year.

well for someone who is no good hes done pretty well with us this year, and training has been good and set ups have worked well so far so sounds like your oppinion on pearcy as a coach is some what un-educated.
Recruiting is about getting players that will be there for more than 1 year and the jury is still out on were your recruits will be next year, my guess is another set of shorts and socks in the chester draws

The bloody cheek of them, i think they are more than concerned with Portland heading to Div2 next year they know Portland are serious about where they are heading as a club & Districts want to derail Portlands attemp of becoming Western Suburbs no.1 SAAFL Port Club.
Another thing they'd be filthy about is the success of Ricky Pearce as coach of Portland, since Pt Districts disgracefully sacked Ricky, Ricky's left no stone unturned in his endevour to prove how wrong they were.
P!ss off Districts you made your bed now lay in it.

NM, tell us what you think, I'm thinking there is an axe to grind.

from the north east, my guess would be that you both will retain most of your players and the ones that move will be purely motivated by money as dictates most of the movement in amateurs. I'm thinking the TTG v Modbury clash next year on Anzac Day will be the biggest Derby in Div 2 next year. Both celebrating their 150th something, not sure you can compete with that history. Plus you have the college clash, if SPOC lose this week. Seems like PD v Portland will be relegated to third most important derby - sorry.

Would be good, the Districts vs Seaton Anzac day game a few years ago was a huge success, this would be no different I reckon.
But will the SAAFL program Anzac day games next year seeing it falls on a Wednesday, it only gives you 3 days to back up from and 2 days to front up to the respective games. Could be 3 games of footy in 8 days

established in what 1861? If maths are correct: cbf checking

but anyway was football even existant in melbourne at this stage.
Was the sanfl even goin then. Like to see proof of ttg & modbury teams in these days. Obviously the remote towns in these days would hav played lots of sports against each other but hmmm bit odd to me. 120th i could believe but 150 dunno dunno

i don't think it would be far off that number.
i have heard that modbury and ttg are 2 of the oldest clubs in south australia, and that one of the first games of footy played in SA was between these 2 sides.
footy smart may have to follow this up and let us know the specifics.

LMA, the Wed game would be either a late game for one round, or more likely an early game for the following round. You won't play both saturday's either side of the Wed, it would only be one of the two.

Given all games are played on the saturdays, it's not like there is an unfair break for sides.

If the SAAFL programme it as the early game for the round on the 28th, it's then a fair draw for all involved as well, so that's the way they should go. (If they played it as a late game for the round on the 21st, then the sides that come up against the two ports on the 28th will have an unfair advantage over the other clubs that don't get to play ports when flat from the previous game).

Fair enough, don't know what i was thinking there. The early games for the round is definately the way to go then.

All this talk between Portland and Port District and even North Haven has gone on for years. If you ask me it sounds like a few blokes are trying to pump up their tyres a little by stating their being chased by one of either three clubs.
It happened a few years back when a heap left NH to play for Districts but then eventually most ended up back at NH.
I am the first to put my hand up and say I love rivalry between clubs, especially if the clubs are local (around the corner from each other). But surely that true passion will eventually fade if players have had stints at 2 or all 3 of the clubs.
Too the players, pick a club, be passionate about your club and commit yourself to playing for that club for future years!
That way when either 3 of these clubs play each other you will have a bit of pride in the jumper and people will want to actually come and watch two clubs fight it out for a local derby. Not a game between team mates of previous years!

Mr Beefy the image didnt come through

Im guessing its from TROVE website ( a newspaper article from the time)

continuing the Melbourne FC statement, the 1st rules of footy were also established in 1858

SANFL 1877

The earliest recorded football club in South Australia was Adelaide Football Club, formed in 1860.

Plus all clubs here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Australian_rules_football_clubs_by_date_of_establishment

still not convinced lol

as if there was that many people even living up there in TTG/Modbury in them days lol
