Didnt get down to game but heard another 28 behinds for the Bulls. Maybe FF can shed some more light on how trial went. I know it is only the first trial and everyone is a bit rusty but this is a problem that has plagued the bulls for some time now. Hopefully the new goalposts at Lindblom Pk, that have moved about a goal square width, help with the lads goalkicking. Im thinking maybe we should be aiming for where the old ones were. ;)

At least this time it was not because of my kicking at goal Ray  Did not play myself but heard some mixed reports also. Putting it all together the scores were around 9.28 - 7.11 I think. Few A graders missing from the side but some shining lights. New recruit Leigh Cooper impressed as did Sam Naylor who missed the last half of the season with a broken hand. The word I also hear was Rosie's weren't that fit but when a club in a higher division plays a lower team you expect them to win even if it is a trial. Looking forward to the game this week. Should be a good indication of where we are at. Also keen to see how new recruit Ronald Rankin goes. Was runner up in the hills league medal last year so should add some potency to our midfield.

If he's anything like his old man Ronald senior (mouse) he'll be a gun!!

Very good footballer Ronny, he played at Modbury 3 years ago. just has a very short fuse which when it goes off watch out  much better him being on your team than the opposition. He will carve up did 4 no worries!

I get the feeling Unley are flying under the radar a little. Even though they've struggled to stay in Div 4 the last couple of seasons, I think 2010 could bring some long waited silverware to the club. I know a couple of players out there, all very confident with their chances this year. I qoute one of them "I will be very dissapointed if we dont atleast make the grandfinal". With the experienced brokes like skoblyk coming over from Pembroke, plus the other's like Cox, and the list of clearances pending for other players on the amateur footy site im begginning to think Unley are certainty!

I know of other clubs who's recruits have not even shown up on the SAAFL list so would not swear by that list as it is not even correct.

I hear Greg Fahey is out there this year Laser, how's he looking?

All the boys are looking good. Good numbers on the track and some very fit players amongst them, trials against Encounter Bay and Hectorville in the next couple of weeks.

Someone might have been taking the P155 there Hardy. Numbers are up this year with more juniors progressing into the seniors and some recruits for balance. The Jets are looking at improving depth and consolidating in 2010. Anything more would be huge and very welcome bonus. (btw, like the jets/flying/radar thing)
How do you see your mob going this year, ready to step up another div ?

The hawks should do well. We've grabbed a couple of players from here and there, with out losing too many. We've been training since early december, so the majority of last years playing group look to have improved. Hard to tell what the competition is going to be like, but it looks like it could pretty even between the 10 sides. I'd think top 5 is a very realistic goal.

Righto, season is around the corner about time we saw some predictions of where teams may finish.
Obviously everyone will put their team on top but where do you think other teams may finish according to what they've done over pre-season and last years form.

I think this will be a very close division again this year so I will name a top 5 and a bottom 5.

Pooraka
Greenacres
: seem to have recruited well and were competitive last year so should be the big improvers.
Golden Grove: With Mark Weaver as coach and good numbers on the track this young group should be ready for the next step and play finals in div 4 this season. Who's going to kick their goals though?
Woodville South: Coming down from div 3 they will obviously be used of the faster competition so will be competitive straight away. Heard they had a lot of injuries last year which is the only reason why they came down. Will play finals I would expect.
Salisbury: Up and down like a yoyo sometimes. Unsure what they will come up with this year so I wreckon they will fight for 5th spot with Unley.
Unley: Hearing they have recruited well. Were more competitive last year so look for the Jets to see some final action for the first time in years.
Fitzroy: Hard to say where they may finish. The departure of Burke to Glenunga is a masive loss and how many players have gone with him? I think they will be competitive but may miss the finals. I could be wrong though.
WOS: Extremely hard for me to say where these guys will finish as I have never seen them before. All I know is it seems to be a trend of clubs coming up from Div 5 never really make it into the finals.
Pultney: May finish higher but doubt they will see finals action. If Perrie plays again they may push for a finals birth.
Salisbury West: From all reports there has been a mass exit down there. May struggle to win many games this year and are my tip for the wooden spoon.

Not a bad write up there bud, i reckon your pretty close other than Fitzroy.
Think they will finiish top 3. I expect them to start slowly but come home very strongly.

For some reason I could not highlight the last couple of teams. Salisbury West and Pultney.
As mentioned never seen you guys before. Is this the highest the club has played in? From Salisbury down to you guys it could be in any order. Like Golden Grove last year, they dominated div 5 and came up and struggled early. Came home with a wet sail but still missed finals. Think this will be a similiar story with you guys.

Yes I think it is the highest..where we are lucky is we may have only lost one player from the A grade this year so that might help with familiarity

Can anyone from Fitzroy confirm the rumour I heard that Brett 'Barry' Burgess played in their trial today. If so how did he go and is he a full time fixture down at the Roys this year. Be an extremely handy acquisition to their forward line if he does.

NH v Greenacres yesterday at greenacres. Thank you to all the boys from Greenies for the game. They won buy maybe a 5 goal margin? Maybe less? There was some niggle through out the game with one of their guys being sent off after a scuffle. The gound we played on was in excellent condition one of the better surfaces where going to play on this year i think.

They had a few A graders that didn't play and were running water. Ben Bamford, Wayne Nassardine played well through the middle and Adam Forth (I think his name is) played well up forward.

Pooraka played Parahills yesterday in a good hitout. Pooraka were up by about 4 goals at three quarter time but scores ended up pretty even by the end. Both sides had plenty of outs in both grades but still made for a good game.

Pooraka plays their final trial next Saturday against Birdwood.

I believe the final margin was more like ten goals, but was a good hit out for both teams,North Haven will be more competitive this year compared to last year, and thanks to all the haven lads who came into the club for a few beers.
