A bit more fittness under the belts and i think they have the potential to be a big threat in div 7. As for IF, this is div7 thread so who really cares. FWIW, 2 of the 3 best players were new recruits PG so i don't know what your view was like from Ridley Reserve. How did the cricket go? :d

Thanks To everyone at Smithfield for the game yesterday, great weather, huge crowd for a trial game and 2 good hitouts for both clubs. All the best for the year and good to see the club back on it's feet with 2 teams again. :ymapplause:

Are you serious mate? I did hear they died in the arse but I'm not convinced they'd be a threat, they did have a few out but I'd be guessing the Farmers did too.

deeman, was at the game yesterday I thought smithfield looked quite good, I was expecting IF to kickem out of the park. IF looked reasonably fit skills not much chop, Smithfield skills were good just ran out of legs only 3 or 4 goals in it though. could be another tough year at IF IMO.

Thats not red strip roo in disguise is it???? =))

From what i was told was that the game was a very low standard. I understand both teams probably had guys out but was still informed the standard was a bit below what was expected.
No i wasn't there so i guess my opinion doesn't count but that's the idea of a forum hey?

Agree Yank Man, the other one is Smithfield. Have a fair few on their clearance list as well and played as high as d5.

Complete mystery at the moment.

As were playing them round 1 what are your thoughts?

My spies tell me they played Ingle Farm today in a trial and the standard was average by both teams. Smithfield have a few that may take some time and I would expect them to be a bit like Nth Pines were in 2011. When they get it together they could very well cause some carnage. They will be well coached.
Yeah ok, might be a case for both sides considering the raft of changes therein

Are they your surprise packet for the year? I reckon Modbury will be the other bolter.

Got lots of kids and may time to get used to strong bodies. Flinders Pk would be my surprise packet. Undefeated in C3 last year. Strong club and well led.

ok a genuine answer would be to say that henley are similar to shocs. every year theres always player movements in the A's and at this time of year the concentration is always on getting the a-grade unit right and settled.

the rest of the teams B's/C's/D's you cant really tell until about 1 week before the season when each team is truly laid out. in the lower grades many players make one or two appearances over the summer and the total pool of names is enormous. But whether or not they will truly show up for round 1, u cant really tell until round 1 takes place.

the boys in div 7 have spent the last 2 years in div 6 traumatized by being thrashed every week and hardly winning a game. So most importantly this season holds a touch of excitement, because no matter what happens it will at least be FUN

so if u can put 2 and 2 together and look ahead, if henley are required to go up to div 6 in 2013, do u think they will exert the utmost enthusiasm to do so? phht as if. So give shocs a break for their decision. But they have to go up next year if occurs???
------

is this ok? have i written too much? or should i open a Henley thread?

I'd rather hear about Henley than Mitchell Park haha
Will be interesting to see how The C grade goes this year, I've heard of a few that have left. One noticeable absentee from last year is the D6 medallist Nick Jones I'm pretty sure? Will be interesting to see how the side shapes up come round 1. I'm not sure this year will be as good as 2009 (the last time they played D7...)

yeah the lads clearance has been rejected in what ever way twice now. U'd hope the young fella could find the strength within himself to face his shark team mates if he wanted to return. Be sad loss if he didnt play at all. You'd wonder if they'd bother for clearance on a third attempt

If he's unfinancial, I'm sure Goolwa will stump up the cash to pay his outstanding subs, although it's hard to believe a captain of a team would be unfinancial.

how much do rural clubs pay a game for metro players in these such instances

my minimum to play would be $900 a match. Like hell i'd wanna drive for 2 hours (and back), to play in freezing cold crap weather, probably on crap grounds, with blokes u'd never know, plus not being able to train at all with ya team, and all for some team where who knows if there'd be any glory.

i'd rather stay home and play afl on playstation :D
