Agree Yank Man, the other one is Smithfield. Have a fair few on their clearance list as well and played as high as d5.

Complete mystery at the moment.

As were playing them round 1 what are your thoughts?

My spies tell me they played Ingle Farm today in a trial and the standard was average by both teams. Smithfield have a few that may take some time and I would expect them to be a bit like Nth Pines were in 2011. When they get it together they could very well cause some carnage. They will be well coached.
Yeah ok, might be a case for both sides considering the raft of changes therein.

Are they your surprise packet for the year? I reckon Modbury will be the other bolter.

It's SHOC's C's and D's for god sake that didn't go up. Should barely record a blip on the radar of amateur league football. Footy Chick SHOC's have lost a heap of players so new DIV 6 would be too big a jump for a C and D grade to make. Just ask Henley. No soft option there when it would effect the whole club especially in DIV 1. Something Hope Valley won't have to worry about.
And Morrell you big sook, all summer you've banged on about SHOC's not going up. Harden up and don't worry about them and just worry about your own club. Did a SHOC player steal your teddy when you where a baby. Toughen up.

IIRC, SHOC took the option not to go up before losing those players and SHOC have a hell of a lot more depth (even with the loss of those players) than Henley did under the same scenario, and not sure how their C and D grade going up to div 6 is going to have a negative effect on the division 1 side.

If this side is going to continue to record such big wins, then YES it is a fairly big blip as far as those other teams in div 7 are concerned. It's not all about SHOC you know

Incorrect to my knowledge.

However, I would have preferred to go up but I have faith in the committee's decision. I expect us to be strong in Div7 again this year. There’s a few lads that played Div1 for Gepps Cross last year that are coming out to play with a few mates in Div7R (they won’t last long there) and another talented bloke who played at full forward for Cove’s A Grade in the Southern League so recruiting is looking good.

Anyone know how Henley are shaping up? I’d expect them to be competitive this year.

Have lost some good midfielders from their C-Grade and their D1 side appears to have had a few go elsewhere.

At least we're not talking about Mitchell Park (according to Marbles)

So you'll have some gun full forward from Cove, what's Cam Carroll doing this year?

Cam Carroll left for the US on the weekend, he won’t play this season.

Will still be strong I think, definitely finals anyway.

D7 really is shaping up to be a very tight Div.

haha just a saying my old man used to bellow when he was frustrated.

According to Wiki it stems from a derivation from Christian symbolism. The symbol, derived from the first three letters of the Greek name of Jesus (Ιησούς), is transliterated iota-eta-sigma: IHS, ΙΗϹ (with lunate sigma), JHS or JHC.

Since the transliteration IHS gave rise to the backronym Iesus Hominum Salvator it is plausible that JHC similarly led to Jesus Harnaldo Christ

Knowing my luck I am about to get shot down by some Christian fundamentalist who doesn't like me posting about their lord and saviour.

deeman, was at the game yesterday I thought smithfield looked quite good, I was expecting IF to kickem out of the park. IF looked reasonably fit skills not much chop, Smithfield skills were good just ran out of legs only 3 or 4 goals in it though. could be another tough year at IF IMO.

The feedback I got from a few outside sources indicate similar to what aussi rulz said - Smithfield looked alright, but the reports on If - and i'll prob get shit for saying this - is they have a lot of work to do before round 1 and for the heavy recruiting they looked quite lack lustre, with most prominent players on the day being juniors of Ingle Farm..

Smithfield looked very good yesterday and i think all div 7 clubs should take note. A bit more fittness under the belts and i think they have the potential to be a big threat in div 7. As for IF, this is div7 thread so who really cares. FWIW, 2 of the 3 best players were new recruits PG so i don't know what your view was like from Ridley Reserve. How did the cricket go? :d

Thanks To everyone at Smithfield for the game yesterday, great weather, huge crowd for a trial game and 2 good hitouts for both clubs. All the best for the year and good to see the club back on it's feet with 2 teams again. :ymapplause:
