I too wouldn't be playing this year if Grainger hadn't gone, along with a number of others. Luckily, West Adelaide were silly enough to look at his record and say 'he'll do'. I tell you right now, my grandma could have coached that side to two flags, and she's passed away! I honestly think Flash has made is decision based on the fact he really enjoyed the atmosphere up the hill. Why would he care if he wasn't performing all that well down at Athlestone? He still getting paid each week. He may have only kicked 5 goals to date but i can guarantee he would have slotted a good 50 for the year had he stuck around.
SEcond, I never said Lofty would do well in Div 1, I've always maintained we'd get smashed, Div 1 is another level. I think though that Lofty would be fairly competitive in Div 2, and by competitive i mean I'd like to think we'd make the 5, top 2 I highly doubt. Not sure where you got the idea we were slow. Clearly you weren't at the 20/20 comp at Happy Valley, we beat every team on pace alone, ask anyone who was there. Our last 7 players certainly don't drop away either, solid across the board.

I think you are right Dashin. I don't think people are saying Lofty are a bad side, just that the other teams are.

Will Athelstone easily be able to cover the loss of Gordon? What is their forward structure like? Also where has Trav White been playing? Is he in the midfield or up forward

I am afraid that if Ben leaves the same rationale would apply. You would be surprised how the remaining players would rally in the abscence of a good player.
What ever happened to Matty Constable? Matty was a gun forward for Norwood U19 and quite capable. From memmory he was a big raggies stallwart and a good mate of Joe Dugan. Get that bludger out of retirement and hopefully his yummy mummy would come to the games as well. Also does his brother Scott play? they are such good value.
To quote an old cliche' "The club is always bigger than the individual". Go forward raggies make the most of an awkward situation and give the Mighty Modbury Hawks a fair dinkum contest this Saturday.
