Their saying they had 6 out but wern't given names, very doubtful tho!!
Hall played Bs, i don't know any other guns that didn't play, maybe someone from Henley can help us out with the MYSTERY MEN that didn't??

Districts haven't seemed to have recruited many players during the off season, maybe waiting for the dregs from the Maggies Reserves!

The side that they put on the park yesterday looked a lot different to last year, although a number of players were being rested. Probably less than 10 that played in the GF last year!

No havent recruited at all, but still a pretty young side, sampson and gates for a full year will be very useful. Think by the end of the game they had 6 players on that played in the GF last year. Mite get a couple of maggies, all players help the depth of the club. I know they signed a few after the game on Sat, Magpie boys i believe.

Yes Districts are reliant on Port players like Henley are with Eagles.

Is it true that Wes Bilney played out at Pt Districts in a trial two weeks ago?

Yep Wes played against SMOSH and was supposed to play on Sat but never rocked up, may mean he has gone elsewhere. No one could get in touch with him.

I'm surprised Delaney would play him if he's not signed, trial game or not you must commit before you put on the guernsey, just goes to show the blokes chasing the best deal $$$ not giving a sh!t wheather its a good LEVEL of footy,TEAM or CLUB. Sounds like he may be a good player but he's not one to trust, his word isn't his word, if it was (where was he sat)?
Players like that will slowly ruin you club regardless of their ability.

Agreed Wes Bilney has lots of talent, but extremely unreliable, so far he has committed verbally to Port Adelaide, Encounter Bay, Marion and Port Districts but will probably end up playing with Mallee Park...

Wes is exploring all options at this stage and i can tell you Pt Districts dont have the best offer on the table $$ wise but what we do offer is playing A1 at one of the most respected clubs in SA .

Roger is keen to see Wes have a crack at Port Adelaide and if he doesnt get a run he can finish the season off with PD .

now a club like broadview gets the props..over 25 years in a1..and i dont have any affiliation with them..just respect them

Yes we are a merger of other clubs but so are the Brisbane Lions , Sydney Swans , Pt Power etc , our success as Pt District in a short amount of time has made us respected in football circles .
The culture the club breeds is not unlike the Pt Adelaide Magpies which is why so many players join PD after there stint with the Port Magpies .
A supporter base that covers a large area of the Port and outer suburbs plus the opportunity to play in A1 . Premierships always attract players and we have no shortage of them .
All of this contributes to attracting players where shit loads of money isnt always a option .

Sth Melbourne merged with new comer Sydney and became the Swans , Pt Adelaide merged into the AFL and became the Power , we could go on all night about technically what are mergers but i gotta drop Mrs Hafey off at choir practice which gives me time to wet my whistle at the Glanville .

Until tomorrow would love to hear about any other football history lessons you are preaching Zedman .

Agree with Hafey, Districts is very well respected. The thing that actually brings it down is it's association with the Port Magpies!! Broadview on the other hand isn't a club that I'd want my son playing for or would consider taking my misses to after a game, being in A1 for 25 years doesn't mean that you'd want to play for them.

In terms of other A1 clubs I'd say the Goody would definately be the most respected, Henley's reputation got crushed last year, Gepps is working hard to build their image and make it a more family club you definately have to repsect that, ROCS is a bit of a boys club like any old collegiate team, TTG seems like a community club, Gaza pretty well run and trys pretty hard to move trouble makers on (pity about the crap ground though), Salisbury North $$$$ more movement at that club than in you guts after a bad curry! Ramblers ok reputation probably similar to Districts in a lot of ways.

Don't wanna start anything, but I'm pretty sure there was no Sydney Football Club for South Melbourne to merge with. They just decided to make the move...

well lets get this one settled first..sth melbourne did not merge with sydney..they became sydney when they changed their name and relocated..and pt adelaide did not merge into the afl..they joined the afl...and its not a technicality..you have used wrong examples..brisbane was correct..

and in regards to broadview i have never been in the clubrooms or played there but to stay in div 1 for 25 years and win flags says they must do something right..

did districts play div 1 last year?
