It doesn't matter what's right and wrong in regards to relegation promotion etc, the saafl will make up and bend their own rules to make them look even more amateurish than they already do.

5 out of the 7 games by over 100pts & 3 games in the B Grade by over 150pts and one by over 200pts no wonder Brighton want out not good for the comp or your club if you have no competition get boring very quickly. Trust me you just go through the motions after a while. Have been on both sides of the ledger and much prefer competition than blow outs.

The SAAFL should absorb 8 of the SFL clubs and put them in their divisions accordingly, then it will be even in all comps and there would be a bye so it will all be even.

how about in the first game playing with 20 points then in the second game playing with 17 and in the third match 17 points again

to be that is breach of the points cap system put in place to try and protect the game from splashes of cash being thrown around like candy the cap is 15 points

So then. To simplify things. When are Brighton meeting and if accepted by their members, when do the SAAFL tell us when they are coming into the comp and what grade after the meeting. Am guessing the AGM or after the SFL Grand Final. The media police would have stopped this long ago, if there was no legs to it, or simply not happening. Floating the idea out there to get a feel on the subject I am guessing.

personally dont know why the saafl and southern league just merge the whole two comps together
set the league up into northern /southern conferences in divisions
and then play a super playoff at end of season
relegation and promotion would still happen within the divisions
would help with the juniors,help with costs,help with players and sponsorships and probably help with the umpires as well

I have heard Brighton are meeting tomorrow night.

Wouldn't a fair bit of them coming in depend on how it is sold to the current clubs.

Not too many would be happy with a change to standard promotion and relegation. Set's a precedent that can affect everybody.

Not too many would be happy with an eleven team comp, very hard to have an even draw.

Even a 12 team comp would be a compromised draw.

When Brighton left they would have been in Div 3 they would be very lucky to come back in the same spot.

I agree deeman it would be logical, but I think the egos of the powerhouse clubs in SFL, who really control the comp, would make sure that wouldn't happen. They are pretty stubborn, hence the reason they have resisted splitting their divisions for so long, even though it would be beneficial to them. The great thing about SAAFL is that you can go up and back via promotion and relegation and build your strengths around that. You wonder how difficult it is for clubs like Hackham and Aldinga who must find it hard to front up each week. Surely they don't have much fun until they play each other once or twice a year.

Wow FE, for someone involved in the SAAFL you have an extraordinary interest in the wellbeing of our league...

FWIW, this season has been a much closer affair in the A grade, first time I can remember we have had up to 12 teams vying for the top 8.
