Pretty high scoring game between Lutheran and Unley. The game between HV and Ath looked like a ripper. Anyone able to give some light on that game? REally looking forward to Friday nights game against the Valley's.

We were in front all day, except for when it counted unfortunately. Wasted so many opportunities in front of goal. Credit to Athelstone and their persistence paid off in the end to get the 2 points.

The contest was a close one all day with only a couple of goals in it at any time. Athelstone started slowly, probably not a surprise given they hadn't played a game since their trial 2 weeks ago (also had the bye first up). On the small Hope Valley Oval, I thought the game was quite tight and scrappy until Athelstone started to get some run going midway through the 3rd quarter and into the 4th quarter. At the end of the game they just ran and moved the ball a bit better which gave them the opportunity to peg HV back.

The game was played in pretty good spirits, can't even remember any scuffles breaking out, and finished just before the rain set in for the day.

Hope the injury to the Hope Valley player who was stretchered off early in the last quarter isn't that bad.

Be intersted to know what HV thought of a triple header with 2 opposition teams. Great for the C's to play in front of the B's and A's but there was no reason for the Atherlsone C's to stick around. Are triple headers a worthwhile exercise if some of the oposition teams come from different clubs?

It was the first time we have a triple header at home with two different clubs. Don't think it makes any differance to the home club but the the first up team will not hang around if there a/b grade are playing close by. Saying that it was good to see a few Athelstone people hang around for a while, this was because a few your people know a few from our club.

Looking at the ladder at the moment and Pt Districts sit on top. Anyone know if they are looking good or just came up against an under maned side? i heard Seaton might be struggling for numbers? But in saying that having only won 2 games last season they are already looking better. It looks like the coaches have done well with picking up players cause the depth down there is looking good. Not sure what the quality of the teams they have played are like but im sure the guys will be happy with 2 from 2. Will be good to see where they are mid season but with the C grade divs its always hard to know whats around the corner.

Looks like the weather may hold off for tonight. Cant say the same for the rest of the weekend though. From what ive seen and heard i cant go past Dizzies being the real contender to jump the division ship this year. Mind you i havent seen anyone else this year so cant have too much behind my comment but with the dpeth Dizzies have i think my comment is fairly sound.

I think theyre benfiting from not being in the same league as some of the stronger C grades, as they were last year. Two new coaches have attracted more players, and seems to be mostly a young group. That combined with more depth at the club should make for a competitive year. They should make finals.

I agree with you all the way Lutz. As much as i have negative feelings towards Dizzies they look like setting the mark this year.

Anyone got any thoughts on them from what they have seen last week???
Best of luck for the season fellas (except when you face the Bulls)

MB. Do you know why your mob wont look at Triple headers with us like they did last year? Just curious mate. We can be very accomodating if required.

I couldnt tell you sorry mate. Im not involved in any running of the club, seems unusual that we arent thinking about it though, we have played 2 triple headers this season so its not out of the question I wouldnt think

Don't know who you are DP but the raggies have more than 1 player in it's team. Yes Dave Harris has comitted to yet another season but let me tell you that the raggies have a good mix of young and old this year. I am suprised you know so much about the raggies. Maybe you should come out and train with us 1 night and have a kick.

Double P Athelstone look like they don't need to rely on David Harris to win them games of Footy. After copping some freindly fire in the game against Unley he missed last week and the raggies came away with a nice win. One player doesn't make a team!!!

Bench Coach i have seen a couple of games with Dave Harris in the team. From what i have seen is he is slow and useless and would almost be 50 years old. with all the hype about him pre season i thought he was a gun but he is a liability. If he is not playing this week Athelstone will win but if he is ill be tipping Portland.
