This is definately not directed at Uni's, but last night about 22 lads from North Haven met down at the zoo for the Weir run. While waitin for everyone to arrive the lads were on the uni groud having a few kicks to each other - no more than 10 - 15 metre kicks. Absolutely noone near the the oval, no uni team training - NOTHING, all the Haven lads were in there team singlets and sand shoes (actually looked really proud). Then this bloke approaches the coach on his little walk and tells him he has no right to be on the oval. Coach told the guy they were all there as a meeting point and had no itention of using the grounds and also was completely unaware they couldn't be on the oval. Walker guy says "No your right it's not signed ver well but if I see you on the oval in 15 minutes I'm calling security"

Anyone at Uni's happy to tell me where this prick gets off being completely arrogant and rude to a group of keen young lads trying to break stereotypes and enjoy an early pre season. I'm assuming he's tied up with Uni's but I can gaurentee that any club from the penninsula would never treat a group of footballers doing nothing wrong in such a manner. I was absolutely disgusted in his blatent disregard.

Haven play Uni this year and are looking forward to playing on such a great deck, but we just hope the uni crowds don't reflect such distain for us. Abosolutely banter, but what this gentleman did was really rude and unnecessary. but like I said no reflection on UNI's

We have had similar experiences down there too in the past. We held a few sessions there a couple of years back, before Xmas. I think people book the oval and playing fields for soccer and other things and that is what the issue is. We basically ignored the warnings to move on, and just stayed out of the way of the soccer players, etc. From memory, the guy's attitude towards us was very aggressive - pretty game taking on a group of 20 footballers.

Super, I think you will find most people (volunteers) that are associated with clubs will approach anything like that in a conciliatory manner, obviously Uni have first dibs on their grounds, but like all suburban ovals, they are open to the public and for use by sportspeople. I have always found the Uni volunteers as good as other clubs. If I was you I would have played the situation, done your warm ups there, as long as you didn't interfere with Uni people and told him you were going to call the police as he was being a public nuisance. Finny sounds like he knows this person and obviously not on his Christmas Card list.

You love it don't you mate? ;)

That guy was a bit of a wanker, telling us we can't be there. What did he think we were going to do? Mess up the place and make it look bad? Cause we were already doing that. ;)

Yeah it was in great nick, It's going to be one of the better grounds we'll play on next season.

Blacks130 wrote:nope, did he have a mo?

Nah he didn't, I'm pretty sure he was just a passer by running/walking along the footpath, I think he was wearing blue? So he didn't seem like he was a part of Uni at all.

He was an older man, so I think he just had taken his grumpy pills and felt the need to tell someone they're doing something wrong.

Footy Smart wrote:Could always be from the cricket club, as it is cricket season still

Funny you say that FS, AUCC was training at the time, on the other side of the ground and none of them came over. A few guys came over near us to get their ball that had been hit out the net in our direction but that was about it.

  Well we all took our NH training singlets off so no one could tell who we are or where we came from. 8)

Hopefully our cunning plan worked. ;)

CONCILIATORY means to win an argument or get one's point across using a friendly approach. His manner was rude and abrupt.

It will be interesting to see how Pt Districts go with points. With the bulk of their recruiting coming from Torrens Valley in the HFL each of these players will carry 3 points i believe. Also is McDowell signed cos i did hear that Torrens Valley are still making an effort to keep him.

Forgive me, my "bollocks" was not inferring your claim to be false however you went to great lengths to stress it was no reflection on the Adelaide Uni FC and yet out of every possible thread it could've been posted under, you choose Div 2 Amateur League.
You regaling your unfortunate experience has no more place in the Div 2 thread than it does under the Cricket (AUCC), Athletics (AUAC), Soccer (AUSC), Rowing (AURC), Hockey (AUHC), Lacrosse (AULC), Archery (AUAC), Sports Association (AUSA) threads let alone perhaps having more purpose in the general thread where the Adelaide City Council might bear responsibility not to mention the scores of North Adelaide NIMBYs (Not In My Back Yard) who resent anyone using those grounds whether a student from the Adelaide University or as you put a group of youngsters attempting to break stereotypes from the Peninsula.

Get my drift

What does this mean anyway? Do youngsters from the Peninsula not train or not wear clothes... I'm confused... :?
