Leagues or clubs Ace?

see in bold above

A bit early to make that call Ace, no secret that NEMJFA and Metro West would vote no if required to vote now, but I think there is a lot of water to pass under the bridge and a lot of questions to be asked and answered before there would be movement from those leagues. The worrying thing is that SANFL want immediate response and these two leagues won't give it until there questions are asked and answered. What will be the response from big brother, will they in effect bring into play the implied threats that Mr Rosser mentioned to a meeting of the JDL's. This in effect will have a considerable impact on the two leagues. Probably insurance being the major issue involved.

I reckon a discussion re insurance through each club's senior body may be the alternative solution. How much time is required, noone knows so in the meantime what happens, BB doesn't/can't give the answers so we have an impasse.

Why wouldn't MWJFL join- they already play the modified rules, no scoring in under 10s and 8s, no premiership points, etc. The under 10s is the most frustrating game to watch. The kids are not allowed to tackle so they have been taught to bump. The other week, almost every hip and shoulder was penalised because they didn't want the kids to get hurt (strikingly similar to AFL bumping rules....) - very frustrating for players and spectators alike

As I have said, it will kill the game, kids wont want to play those rules and parents as I said, have their kids play those rules on Saturdays, have heard in recent times from a parent whose lad was playing in a school, game where they play these rules to the enth degree a side was 10 goals up at half time so the game was declared and then it was half of each team on each side, one team walked off and went home, cause the kids wanted to play for their school and with their mates, and no it wasnt the side in front.

A lot more to this issue than "bumping & tackling". That alone would make the decision easy.!

A new slant on AFL player payments via the SANFL & Junior clubs:

Why is it the SAAFL get 30% of payments from the AFL for juniors who go on to make AFL playing lists?

My understanding is the player's SANFL club gets 40% of the payment, the junior league from which the player comes gets 30% & the SAAFL gets 30%. I'm not sure the SAAFL has much to do with the development of junior players, most are recruited from the SANFL club system but I believe it was a condition of the affiliation of the SAAFL with the SANFL that was put in place.

Not sure of the percentage but we, as a stand alone junior club (run independently of the seniors, own board etc) get $2,500 on one of ours signing with an AFL club & payments for 1st game, 10th game etc.
Must play 32 games & from memory must have played under 15's & up in those 32 games. Helps a lot & avoids messy arguments if the player nominates your club as his junior club & not his SANFL affiliate.
Hey soccer you owe us 45million.

the minimum games played is 20 and must be from under 13's upwards. The club receives money for there 1st year, 2nd year and also when they play 10 AFL games.

Your right, just looked it up (on the first bit anyway), looks like I blued listening to an SANFL development officer who insisted that it was 32 games & 15's & up. Reckon he was trying it on to get us off the payment system.
So what's your take on a player poached to Walkerville from Pooraka (lets say) who played 100 games for the Bulls & 30 odd games in 15's & 16's for Walkys?

SY, my query is on the SAAFL getting 30% for little or no reason.

not sure i have heard a reason, so your affiliation theory is probably correct and from what i have heard most junior clubs whilst grateful for a good drop of money scratch their heads when told the SAAFL get a cut for the same reasonn you identify.

Do nthe junior leagues that refuse to join have anything to bargain with to reinforce or bargain their case.

Well we have got a reply back from David Hutton in relation to a large number of points in issue bought up by a Junior side, now all have to do is go and find all the other documents that they refer to that answer that clubs questions. One gets the feeling this may well be a very very very long drawn out process ;)

misunderstanding there, nemjfa meeting next week for the motion, sanfl have meeting of JDL's on 10/8 when they want a decision on the leagues decision. Basically the clubs will advise the Ex of NEMJFA next week at Athelstone where the association will go with all this. What is your feeling, I think that there will eventually be no choice re the next gen rules, i think it will come down to how much the clubs actually think they can trust big brother. Would a rider of joining, with a review by clubs annually be the way to go or do the NEMJFA get written into conditions that the majority decison of all NEMJFA clubs will still have the say in changes to the workings of NEMJFA. Perhaps should get Tony Kerin working on that one, not sure clubs will hand over control outright at this stage. Thoughts.
