So who is in contention for the Seaton job. i have heard Settre and Peter Kelly as front runners.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Have they narrowed it down to them 2?
What happened 2 Peter Kelly??Apparently he was a real hard ass coach in his time, didn't take any sh!t from players & was respected by all,he also got them 2 a GF.
Or is that like asking John Cahill back?

Hey Kinsmanclan you seem to have a reasonable understanding of Amateur footy. I cant see anyone getting close to Goodies especially picking up Tyrell back from Norwood and Wakelin from North. My predictions are Goodies, Henley, Gaza, Salisbury North, Port Districts, Broadview, TTG, Roc, Gepps, Seaton.
I Think Port Districts will aquit themselves very well first year back in but think Seaton will struggle. Henley look like the early big improver with Gaza and Salisbury north to again play finals. Unfortunately cant see Broadies playing finals and TTG may fall away a bit. Gepps, rocs and Seaton will battle it out for relegation. Gepps already lost many players and might be offering big cash but wont be able to pay it. Heard they are struugling with competition from Soccer venue and Grand North who have better meals and more pokies. They are likely to self destruct. Rocs to have lost afew players but at least unlike Gepps they can recruit players for other reasons than money as they are a footy club not community club.
Goodies sitting as early favourites!

I asked him that in a PM a while back, but would Hafey ever have admitted he was a B-grader?

On my morning run down the boulavard,i swear i saw Adrian Settre at the Seaton Ramblers F/C.If it wasn't,it was a dead set ringa,he still looks in good enough nick 2 play.
He'd have 2 get the job if he puts his hand up for it wouldn't you think?

Settre would still have the passion and desire to do the job but whether he has the time between his work and his committments at the port magpies would be interesting . Has got some great contacts and up to date knowledge of the game , will ring him monday and ask him directly if he has been approached or considering the position .

FM very early to be going on who is up their , Gaza has been able to keep most if not all from this year and rumor has will be adding a few more to the list , news out of goody saints is klemm has called it quits , the wilsons look likely to be gone and a couple others thinking of moving on . Paul Lindsay lurking about , not sure if he has signed yet but asking big dollars so that might scare a few clubs . Could be an open season , if gullies get their act together may push a bit deeper into finals ( a commedable 1st year in div 1 ) . Will be greatly disappointed with the exit this year .

I think your prediction and wrap up on the sides is pretty well spot on FM.
Agree with your top 4. I reckon 5th spot is between the TTG, Salisbury Nth & Gepps Cross with my prediction of Gepps Cross taking 5th, only if it is true about Cutting, Jordan etc leaving Salisbury Nth. TTG will need to recruit some more quality players if they want to play finals again.
I think Broadview and Seaton will fight it out for the wooden spoon.

I dont think big lindsay will be playing anywhere, he is now part of the Eagles coaching panel and u would think he would be required there on match days.

Why are you guys rating districts so high? Im not sure that they have recruited anyone yet, yes they may get a few magpie boys but only those that dont make the ressies. I hope they do go well tho.

Not suprised at Klemm has had trouble with his back all season and missed the GF with injury. Will confirm this as a definite or not in a few weeks when I catch up with him. Word out of J. Telfer's junior club on the Eyre Peninsula is that he is to return home

I know its early sms,i'm just happy 2 share my thoughts with all,on the season ahead.
Gaza- are aging & are always up there,so you have 2 respect them for that, yet they are known 2 choke finals time,i have no doubt they'll be up there again.
Goodwood- may lose a few but have the ties at the club 2 recruit well & replace. (very proffessional outfit)
Henley- have obviously recruited well & being in Div 1 now for 3yrs are ready 2 make an impact, maybe the club has felt this is the year 2 have a splurge $$$.When it dries up,will the players stick around???
Pt Dist- with Delaney onboard & their agreement with Port Magpies (keep the players at one club policy) will have amples of players 2 choose from in 2008,as alot like 2 jump on the bandwagon after a premiership. They were a very good side in Div 2 & will make the transition to A1 look easy.
T T Gully-surprised alot last year in minor round, yet finals proved a different story.Maybe they ran out of gas?
I think players, coach & club would of learnt alot in their first year back in Div 1.How much they learnt & how far they go,will be determined by who sticks around.

A couple of the other sides may surprise me in Gepps X & Salis Nth,but I'm happy 2 take the punt with this top 5
The wooden spoon unfortunately has 2 go 2 someone & that will be one of Broadview,Rocs or Seaton.
With their loss of players & inability 2 find a experienced coach,Seaton looks the early favourite.

No worries FM , good to have a healthy chat about the up coming season , it will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of weeks .

I rate them high because with Delaney coaching them he will want to continue the success up in Div 1. Also with all the ex port players involved on and off the field will also contribute to their continued success.

Finding it interesting that no one is rating Broadview too highly this year, from what i saw and heard last year, they were ahead of schedule by reaching the finals. Most picked them to be relegated last year. Still can't go past the Goodwoods, Gaza's and by the sounds of it Henley for this year.

They did perform well last year but if I recall Darren Mead said at the start of last season they would be the measuring stick for Div 1 in 2007. They did okay but I wouldn't have thought they were the measuring stick. And only from what I've read on this site they seem to be losing some players and also the coach has gone. Not sure who their new coach is for next season and who they have recruited for 2008.
