There should be some hard footy in div 3 this year. Only two college teams and Walkerville to nancy it up a bit. All of the other teams are from traditionally rough areas. A fair bit of travelling to be done by those of us close to the city.

that has to be the most stupid post of the month...you believe college teams are weak and soft..and you believe if you come form a rough area your tough...lol..get ya head out the hole ostrich..some of the toughest games i have played were against paoc and spoc and shoc..and some of the weakest were so called tough clubs like modbury, rosewater and all those port clubs who merged to make pt districts..you have generalised horribly..cant wait till those so called weak clubs put you to the sword

Having played against heaps of college sides I can tell you they play more of a running game and rely more on using the footy with their skills. I know it may sound like a silly perception, and I have cringed when team mates have said we'll beat them because they are soft, but every college side I have played has played a different style of footy. It was not a comment on the softness of individuals, just the style of game. You can not honestly tell me that college sides have the same crash and bash elements as the northern suburbs teams.

Scotch have arced up once or twice but apart from that I can't remember playing a physical game of footy against a college side in the last 4 years. This doesn't mean they were soft or haven't beaten us, just that it was a different style of footy.

There are a lot of people in the suburbs that pride themselves on being physical, my point was that there will probably be a fair bit of that in div 3 this year. Not necessarily a good thing either, I'm predicting a fair bit of sniping too.

I dont think there was any doubt that SMOSH were the "hardest" side in the comp last year and they were a college side.

For me, hardness is not about sniping and cheap shots which one side in Div 3 has become particularly well known for of late...

If Kilburn's game plan or standard is anything 2 go by,well....their form this year was deplorable,I would'nt call that football, what would you call it Andy?Atleast college teams have a game plan!

showing chinks in Kilburn armour already Andy#24 or is that just you?
If your worried about the physicality of the upcoming season.............yes it will be demanding but no cheap shots will happen.
You dont have to worry about sniping.......99% of the Div3 sides would not do that.
But like all the other sides in the comp, if your there to be pounded, then you probably will be.

That is exactly what I was saying, college teams have a game plan which generrally is different to some suburban sides.

Every side takes cheap shots from time to time, no club could deny this. I agree with Orts and think the make up of the division will make this more prevelant. I've always thought of SMOSH as West Lakes, but I didn't say all college teams adopted a less physical game plan, just most of them.

ive played in divi 3 for a few years now and the only difference between a college side and and a non college/feral side is the biffo under the packs and behind the play when a college side is 40points up goin into the last qtr.

I'm not backtracking I just think you took nancy it up a bit too literally.

In reponse to HI HO, having played against every college side that has played in div 2 over the last four years, I would say they are very different. College sides rely on linking up with the handball and playing running possession footy. When they do this they are hard to stop. However, most college sides tend to fall apart a bit under physical pressure and are vulnerable at contests. Every time I have played a college side whether we won or not depended on the pressure we put on them and whether we allowed them to link up.

Comparing youself to Sals. West doesn't mean much.

Even Sals. West aren't even that feral. I've only seen them play the one game at Walkervillle last year in the finals, but it seemed like only 3 or so players were really bad. These 3 probably influenced a couple of weaker minded followers to act like idiots as well but the rest of the team seemed fine.

i never said anything about salisbury west and you have got to be kidding if you think that about them. I saw first hand this year twice how they are and its unbelievable. We just beat them at home in the last few games and i copped abuse at the final siren form people walking past me on the oval. Seriously i think they need to get over themsleves i mean why abuse me?

Fair enough, you would have seen them more than me. I saw there supporters go feral after a match so I agree with you there. Surely you can't say all of there players are knobs. How many would you say are really dirty?

Their supporters are ALWAYS feral no matter where they are. I sent their president over to talk to the supporters about 6 times when we played them away and it still didnt stop. There is just no control. And about the really dirty players there is a fair few that everyone knows of...
