Had a look at Modbury today and they are a very impressive side. I'd say they are looking very early favourites for at least one of the spots from which to be promoted.
It prompted me to think how much does a failed bid to be competitive in Div 1 cost a club in the long run and I don't mean from a financial point of view. A club could spend two or three years planning for a fair dinkum crack at it and only to fail in it's first year up. How long does that set a club back before it can place itself in a position to do it again.

Modbury were impressive to start but they are not with there performance after half time. They did all the hard work and just jogged over the line... harro not happy but will take every win. Scotch battled hard but i think they would have been beated by alot/alot more if the weather was fine.

It takes along time to build a div 1 team if you dont have pokies!!!!!!!!!!!

Edwardstown12.5
Pembroke OS 8.12

There is a lot of early predictions of who will be doing what come September; we will have a better indication after eveybody plays each other once.

Good to see Modbury's reserve team notch up their first of many wins for the season

Good news is all senior grades for Modbury had a win.

Uni finally won a game! Could anyone remember the song?

Seriously though, Uni had to do it the tough way. It was during the holidays.

Whats going on at athelstone? Heard a rumour that one of their big recruits for this year is seriously thinking about heading back to where he came from. Not sure what his reasons are but surely its a bit early to be jumping off?

See Zanker is getting in the best for Athelstone, not bad seein as though he has been retired for 2 years. Could use him out at Broadies again, couldn't match that kinda money to get him out of retirement though.

He has mentioned to a couple of people that he wants to. i believe he may have even already spoken to the president of former club. Not totally sure on his reasons but could be that he doesn't think much of div 2 standard.
