I have no affiliation with Modbury but offer the a general observation to your post. Clubs like Cougars would know the risks of recruiting blokes from the city and the likelihood of them tiring of the arrangement. Cougars and country clubs like them prey on the type of player who chases the cash so don't whinge when those same shallow types chase even more cash and in this case a little closer to home. Your argument or your source at Cougars is riddled with hypocrisy when the reality is if Cougars and clubs like them are going to lie down with dogs they'll get flees and serve themselves right.

agreed rotter

not saying that the boys mentioned are chasing cash at modbury they are simply playing with mates who they made well before the football season finished last year adn will play for modbury in years to come.

Sorry, I should've said I was not suggesting either of those boys are dogs but more so referring to the gist of Jayne's argument. I've known Brad and Ben for a long time and both are quality young blokes

i know one of the players mentioned and the $ figure is correct, plus the job in adelaide that they found him. however, part of the agreement with vassel playing for the cougers last year was gunning playing for modbury this year. the premiership just complicated things. as for the 3 players mentioned 'abandoning' the cougers, they werent the only paid players who arent playing there this year.

Correct the 3 mates said that they would play together Guuning was approached by PAC as he is an oldscholar. they all love the club and mates which they have formed over the past year and a bit.

enough about the hawks even though they are plying

Any tough games coming up which could go either way. Are Uni a chance to open there account

Dear Jayne please leave the breaking news to Caroline Wilson because at least she gets a majority of her facts correct.
I agree that it was indeed sad that they left the Cougars then again as did their coach Dominic Fotia. The truth is that after the history making Grand Final win came a mass exodus; gone were the Byrne boys Jarryd and Ryan, David Lavender, Vassal, Gunning and Dutschke to name a few.

My question to you is how many of those boys were contacted by Cougar officials and asked to play again in 2008?

In closing I would like to say this; mateship is and will always be stronger than the dollar, and the entry to Modbury from Maitland is all about mates having a kick and catch together with the view of getting Modbury into A1 where they belong. As for the dollars being paid, wrong, wrong, wrong-the fact is Jayne that they were offered huge amounts to play for country clubs and still stayed at Modbury (Where their mates are) That to me is loyalty- it just depends on which side of the fence you want to sit on.
Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser.
