Casper.... I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say here but I think you are seriously misguided....
Are you saying you would like the coaches to give young guys a run in the B's and C's purely because of age and 'relegate' older guys to the D's purely because of their age ????? And yet you go and say you don't want to bust your ass and end up 'filling' a spot in the D's because of YOUR age ?? :?
Let's clear a few things up champ...
Firstly, you should bust your ass in pre-season training to PROVE you are determined and capable of playing in the higher grades NO MATTER WHAT YOUR AGE. If you dont get selected in the higher grades early, you should be fitter and more prepared than most to push for inclusion on the back of good performances and good attitude.
Secondly, dont EVER take the attitude that the older guys deserve to be 'relegated' to lower grades and young kids deserve to play higher grades because of their age. That immature attitude will get you nowhere.
Lastly, if your attitude is that the players in the lower grades are just 'filling' the numbers then you are seriously mistaken too. There are plenty of quality players at GG that were squeezed out of teams in 08 purely on numbers, but also because of attitude, training etc.
So if your attitude is as you state, then please dont bother coming out if you think you deserve a game in the higher grades because I'd hate to see you 'busting your ass' for 'nothing'...............
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

what i was getting at choccies is that i sensed a trend of young players(18-22yo) being promoted from C - B grade whereas the players 25+yo were being overlooked. even though the older players' form warranted being selected in higher grades ahead of some younger players. therefore my point being if i fall into the 25+ category will i be overlooked ahead of a younger player in playing a higher grade? hence putting in a pre-season will it be in vain??

What you sensed Casper was a trend of guys getting selected due to commitment to the club, commitment during pre-season and at training and impressing during games. Age came into it for guys that were 30+, no question there but if you do the hard work you will be rewarded.
I would think that doing a good, solid pre-season would be beneficial to everyone and your thoughts of it being 'in vain' if not selected higher are a bit of an insult to the guys who played C's last year, and will play C's and D's next year. Believe it or not but guys in those teams are still required to be fit and dedicated to get a game.... I can name you 10 guys who had your attitude last year that got overlooked....
So my advice to you is to do a solid pre-season no matter what grade you play.
