did Adam Rowett and/or Terry Rogers play on the weekend? both ex-Birdwood boys is why i ask... how did they go?[/quote]

Both Terry and Rowett played on the weekend. Rowett was named 2nd best for PNU and looked like an excellent inclusion, quite versatile. Terry did not find it as much as he usually does, although still contributed.

yeah they played darren in the ruck and at full forward was servicable and chris at full back. cant see that changing maybe only darren to play as perminant forward as still a ruckman to come back in the A's in the next few weeks.

will be a good test for the hawks against Edwardstown this week. Can anyone tell me what sort of team they have (tall, small, fast etc)

Chris at full back, who was chb then. Very interesting, that is why he left Broadview, didn't want to play full back.

Im pretty sure he was at full back. either way the other key defender was ryan jarman. matchups may have forced him on to the last line of defence. he certainly has been given a chance up the field at modbury

I thought Harro threw the team around for Modbury's first game for premiership points. The trial games prior to round 1 were free flowing with good even contributors. Bottom line there is nothing to lose in a trial game-players threw caution to the wind and fortune certainly favoured the brave. This was far from evident with Modbury's first half on Saturday and that is taking nothing away from a dogged SMOSH, a real arm wrestle up to half time.
Personally I think what should have been Modbury's achiles heel is there strength-there ruckmen were admirable but we all know that there is plenty of footy to be played before chests can be pumped and backs slapped

Roll on footy

An 11 goal second quarter all but sealed the game for Modbury. After the first quarter the umpiring was very good and they allowed the game to flow-as they should. The most pleasing aspect was that Harro's boys had no passengers; the way I saw it was that every player was an option and they were backed in by their team mates

NO ROOM FOR INDIVIDUALS IN THIS SIDE.

All the games will be a hard fought contest as sides will step up their intensity when they play this Hawks side.

Can only be good for footy!!!!.

Uni's are all "WIND", they may struggle to make the 5.

I was only there for the first half but PNU has started this year the same way they did last year, going down by about 4 goal to PHOS.

We had no guts...literally! they're (the blokes who play in the guts) all out injured, poor Nick Jolly went from a 6 goal game last week to a 1.6 game this week.. :(

A must win this week against Uni.

We clearly have a few problems at the minute that'll be solved after 1. the boys come back from Uni holidays or 2. <EDIT: VERY uneccesary Blacks>

YES they are, they all thought they only had to show up this year to take the bacon home.
Maybe they should drop another grade next year to Div3.
UNI'S power over the years in Div 1 are over.

Has nothing to do with being up themselves. This week alone the A grade had 7 first choice players that returned to one of Perth, Mildura, Swan Hill, Millicent, Waikerie and 2 from Mildura. What you might not understand is if these blokes stay at their respective boarding houses in St Marks,St Annes, Aquinas to name a few they have to pay premium "housing costs" during the holiday period. This is an issue we have to deal with every season and will do again in 8 weeks time with the next break.

How is it then Blacks, that it hasn't seemed to be that much of an issue in the previous 100 odd years?

The same thing would happen every year one would imagine..
