You Houghton boys aren't too smart are ya?
You're the third person to come on here to fail when trying to post a funny and witty reply. (and im the one dribbling crap?)
If your players are liars and choose to run their mouths when its not true thats fine. I fail to see why anyone would want to tell people they are getting paid when they're not, unless of course they're attention seekers (although this is Houghton)

Why are you talking about your club rooms and maintenance? Do you have a problem reading English like Head Raider? I never mentioned anything about your tin shed, nor could i care about it. I’ve simply been told by more than one person that Houghton have come into some money AFTER LAST SEASON and are overpaying players form the Hills.

Like I’ve said before, it’s up to your club if you want to throw whatever money you have received away.
All I did was come on here and ask a simple question about where you guys got your money from?
Let’s see if I can get a simple answer by any one of you simple blokes

It's easy to forget that Houghton played off in a Grand Final last year and quite often with promotion comes an influx of players. That doesn't mean that they're all getting offered big money to play there.

Footy God, you'll find that most blokes who sprout off about how much they reckon they're getting are usually talking crap to make themselves look better, most players who are good enough to earn some coin go about their business and keep it to themselves. It's between them and the club.

This argument rears its head probably once every 6 weeks or so on the forum. Truth is, if these players are getting paid, there's probably only 2 or 3 people at the club who actually know the exact figure. Anyone else who says they know is probably just guessing!

Looking forward to playing Houghton up there on Saturday in our first hitout for the year, and by the sounds of it we might be in for a pretty tough contest. It's always hard to win up the hill, trial or no trial.

to be fair to footygod i think its not a bad question..houghton as we can see have got a lot of recruits..and maybe some of these guys are speaking out of school..and blowing their own bags..but where there is smoke there can be fire..i say gl to HD either way..its not "amatuer" league so there is no shame at all in playing players..everyone does it..and the amount is all relative to the individual..if i could get ricciuto to play 18 games in div 6 i think paying him 150 a game would be chicken feed.."but hes in div 6..you cant pay that amount"..its all relative to the quality of person, their impact on the club and how desperate a club maybe as well.. :)

Good thing everyone is doing it, might be a bit hard to play a game otherwise... ;)

Couldnt agree with ya more demon. We have done most of our recruiting at the pubs at 2am with a belly full of beer. We have offered all the new players something though and that something is a good bunch of lads to drink with and hopefully a good year of footy.

Obviously every team goes into the season aiming to make the gf. and that is our aim. this year we want to be a competitive side. last time we were in div 6 we were getting our butts kicked every game and it wasnt much fun. the group of lads we have with us this year all have the same goals and are all focused on the same thing.

yeah i wasnt at colonel light when you were in div 6 that time, should be a relatively even year from one down to about six i rekon, or at least its looking that way.

Well what fun would that be for the forum HR? We don't care for private chats unless the transcript is posted here!! For my 2c worth I can backup some of footygods comments because I've also heard that there's some extra $$ floating around your club this year, although the source was FAR from reliable..... and to save you a post no I'm not revealing my source either.

Interesting to see that you get your back up when names aren't forthcoming after footygod said some of these guys are mates of his. Would you grass on your mates HR? I'd hope the sort of loyalty and commitment you ask of your players each week is something you believe in, rather than just lip service.

Seems to me that you don't know where the extra $$ are coming from this year, so why not just say that? Can't see why you need to get so fired up son.

Footygod, not sure why the details of HDFC's financial situation should be public knowledge, but I'll do my best to answer your questions.

We manage to do okay thanks to a spread of loyal sponsors and a dedicated committee who consistently organise popular and well attended social events.

The idea of paying players has been floated in the past, but it was unanimously decided to be a little more egalitarian with our incentives. After a bit of number crunching at the end of 2008 and again at the end of 2009, increases were made to best player awards and to the A Grade players' drink cards. As yet we are not in a financial position to pay individual players (on top of current incentives), and perhaps from a philosophical point of view we aren't either.

If players are boasting about being paid, then so be it. You can't control what people say. I'm sure the boys have been having a good laugh about it though.
