Not many teams of the year will have every player playing in the right position. It's usually a matter of the "best 22" for the year from the 10 clubs. If you work on 10 teams x 2 players from each team, that gives you 20. The better performing clubs usually get a couple more and the lower ranked clubs a few less. You'll find that most of the players named probably played a number of positions throughout the year - because they're good players, which is why they are in the team of the year!!
Roach (plym), Fairhurst (Smit), & Greenshields (Eliz) were all unlucky IMO. You'll find that most clubs' Best & Fairest winners are in there (except Smit & Plym) which shows the selectors were around the mark.
People will always be able to mount a case for why players should be in there, but is there anyone in the team that shouldn't be in there? (despite the position they were named in) If posters start putting on here 6-7 players that didn't deserve to be in there, then the selectors probably got it wrong. Debate will always rage about who missed out of teams of the year and it has since jesus played full back
